Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has closed a portion of the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge This area is about 3500 acres in size. Our concern for public safety is paramount. The situation in this zone has reached a point where continued public use of the area is not prudent. The Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge has been adversely affected by border-related activities. The international border with Mexico has also become increasingly violent. Assaults on law enforcement officers and violence against migrants have escalated. Violence on the Refuge associated with smugglers and border bandits has been well- documented. Many of these activities are concentrated at, or near, the border. The concentration of illegal activity, surveillance and law enforcement interdictions make these zones dangerous.

Issuing an official permit to the Humane Borders organization to place and maintain 65- gallon mobile water stations throughout the Refuge.
Work with Customs and Border Protection to install solar-powered emergency rescue beacons that provide a direct line to CBP in the unfortunate event that someones life is in danger. Rescue beacons are much more effective at providing emergency response and the medical support needed for migrants suffering from the effects of heat. Up to four more rescue beacons are being planned for installation this year.
The beacons and the permitted water stations have been placed along trails known to be used by immigrants and have saved lives.
Further, there are already over 30 water sites available for migrants, with 14 of those consisting of sources directly tied to drinking water systems throughout the Refuge."

the fed closed this...let’s hear from the governor on it...
Hey Obama...I think I just found a way to save some money!!!
The sheriff of this county in AZ was just on Fox News. He said the feds have surrendered 80 miles of land 3 counties deep into AZ. He flat out said Obama is doing nothing to help the slaughter happening there, he has ordered all construction of the fences stopped, and he is a slick talker who is doing nothing.
This is highly disturbing.
This news is enormously disturbing and should be in breaking news. This is 80 miles inland...not right on the border.
We can’t travel down Martin Luther King Blvd (name your city) at nite, use our national forests due to the marijuana growers, so what’s the big deal we can’t go near our own sovergn border? Do we need to just cede more land to appease the animals?
In other words... the enemy invades, we retreat. The mexicans must be thinking, “Wow, that was easy!”
This is exactly why democrats should NEVER, EVER have the reins of power in this country. Every single GOPer running for Congress and the Senate needs to pound this issue home this year.
Public Closure Ping!
You need to check the map...at no point does the closure extend more than 3 miles from the border.
You may be thinking of comments from Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu.
“This news is enormously disturbing and should be in breaking news. This is 80 miles inland...not right on the border.”
Indeed. But we’ll see more of it. 800 miles from the border, we are told not to go into the woods...they’re OWNED by the Mexican cartels.
This is in Pima County. Dupnick’s territory. Babeu is Pinal County, 80 miles north.
There are government warning signs posted on roads 40 or 50 miles inland. The signs have been in place for quite a few years.
One of the reasons public lands are out of control on and near the border is mostly due to environmental concerns the Border Patrol is either not allowed to or discouraged from doing their job in those areas. Seems to be more fear that Border Patrol may kill a rare plant specie while chasing smugglers than just allowing smugglers to overun those areas. It is totally insane, and happens even in areas that are trashed by illegals- still the other agencies don’t want Border Patrol in there. I don’t know if waivers are needed or if the agencies blocking Border Patrol could just say they can cover those areas. This needs to change though- because it is essentially giving our land to the smugglers.
Assaults on law enforcement officers
and violence against migrants have
escalated.
&&&
WTH?! Violence BY “migrants” is part of the problem. Idiots!
