Future leaders of the GOP - Senate Candidates (Ken Buck and Roger Williams)
Coffee Hays

I'm tired of having to choose between nominating the RINOs because "they can win" or nominating the person that I agree with that can't attract independents.

Maro Rubio is the ideal candidate. He is a strong conservative but also has great appeal to independents.

Right now, Roger Williams of Texas and Ken Buck of Colorado are two other candidates that have what it takes to appeal to broad section of their respective states, and ARE CONSERVATIVE.

Here is a great link from Roger Williams:

and one from Ken Buck.

These are two leaders we need in the Senate and their opponents in the Republican primary are NOT CONSERVATIVE.

Coburn and DeMint need help and these are two guys that can give it to them.

Though I knew who he was, I met roger williams at the 2008 Texas State Republican Convention. As I stood up after a meeting ended, he walked up, stuck out his hand (that I reached out to shake), and said “Hi, I’m Rog....”. I didn’t hear the rest of what he said because by that time, he had already turned and began walking away to the next sucker to be seen with. Thus verifying what I already knew about him ... that he is as big a superficial asshole as I’ve ever met.

Oh, and to be clear, I’m talking about roger williams rino ex-secretary of state from the Weatherford area trying to buy a Senate seat and not the truly conservative Mike Williams Railroad Commissioner that gave a very eloquent speech at that convention and is who I will support for that Senate seat.

I've seen Ken Buck at several candidate forums and spoken with him as well. He says pretty much the same things as every other candidate about whom little is known; but he is presumably conservative and would presumably be a vast improvement over the status quo (i.e., Michael Bennet). I find him softer than average (for a Republican) on 9th/10th Amendment issues and would prefer someone a bit more hardcore for states rights before I would classify him as someone who would be a bold new conservative leader in the Senate.

You've got the wrong Williams in TX. FReepers support Michael, not Roger, Williams.

I like Michael A LOT. But he has no money and will drop out of the race in the 5 or 6 months. Again, I’m not saying these guys are perfect, but they are REAL CONSERVATIVES that can win.

I don’t know what you mean about his dropping out in 5 or 6 months, the Senate race isn’t until 2012. Michael Williams is the grassroots choice.

Kay Bailey is thinking of running for re-election in Texas should 2012 look like a good year for the GOP.

No doubt, that’s why if she doesn’t retire voluntarily, we’ll voluntarily retire her, just like Bob Bennett in UT.

You guys can't be serious. Roger is quite possibly the most loved Republican by the grassroots across the state of Texas. Don't get me wrong Michael is great; but he has no money, can't raise any money, and it takes money to win a statewide federal election in Texas. The latest reports had Michael in debt nearly $50,000. That means he doesn't have a chance. I am surprised to hear someone talk this way about Roger, if you got out around the state to local Republican clubs you would realize what a great reputation he has and that he will most likely be our next senator.

Roger is small town Bubba with money. If he would have had to enter politics in a county whose republican party wasn’t built around the concept of taking care of the good old (rich) boys, no one would have ever heard of him. I’m sure it would be quite prestigious for him to buy his way into a Senate seat. He probably won’t do as much damage as Hutchison, but he won’t really bring anything to the party.

Michael is a true statesman whose one big screw up was he didn’t inherit the only Chrysler dealership in a growing county from his father
