SEATTLE -- Seattle police are investigating what they call an assault of an officer in South Seattle. However, a police officer is seen punching a 17-year-old girl in the face during the incident captured by a video camera on Monday.
According to Seattle police, the incident began when an officer spotted a man jaywalking in the 3100 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Way S. at approximately 3:10 p.m. The man was some 15 feet away from a pedestrian overpass, police said.

It’s good advice to avoid any road in America named Martin Luther King Blvd.
Whether jaywalking or not.
It’s usually injun territory.

Not “excuse,” but a solidly good reason. Two versus one and with an unknown and hostile crowd.
The “women” were acting like barbarian animals that they are, uncivilized and, yes, attacking the officer as he tried to arrest the mouthy slim creature.
“Teenager” is irrelevant to the situation, as if a “teenager” can't do any harm, or at worst, cause little resistance. Age is irrelevant when the “teenager” is taller than the officer and weighs more, and is actively trying to help her ‘ho escape.
The poor little ‘dahlin’ was just set upon by the big ol’mean policeman.

The ironic thing is that MLK Blvd begins/ends in Madison Park, a white as wonderbread very affluent district of the city.
The 3100 block is in the Rainier Valley, aka da ghetto. Yes, even Seattle has one.

I think that the officer in question acted with tremendous restraint in this situation.
I guarantee you that there should have been a few more arrests.

I was expecting to be outraged upon viewing the video. Instead, it looks like that video will be great evidence for the city in a few trials for resisting arrest.

back in the day, when I was a police office in Texas, found myself in that situation and they WILL try and kill you.

That whole jaywalking law is totally unreasonable and an abridgment of personal freedom and liberty.

When the officer tried to handcuff the girl, another girl, this one 17 years old, intervened and placed her hands on the officer's arm, "causing the officer to believe she was attempting to physically affect the first subject's escape," police said. That's exactly what I saw.
Evidently these 'ladies' have heard Chris Rock's advise.

Right. . .like a 17-yr old can't hurt or kill you.
She should have been injured—greatly.

Looks like he had an eye witness throughout the whole ordeal.

The officers in my area would have tasered her and her friend if she too forcibly resisted as well. We can’t have members of the public assaulting our officers in uniform while trying to do their jobs. He handled himself very professionally IMO.
