“that the company be made to foot the bill for a drilling moratorium imposed by his administration”

The President, who has repeatedly used the company's former name, British Petroleum, as a reminder of its foreign roots, said last week that he was looking for "ass to kick" and would himself have fired Tony Hayward, the chief executive.

The controversy has fuelled the belief that Mr Obama is trying to deflect criticism of his handling of the crisis by lashing out at BP - despite reportedly assuring David Cameron, the British prime minister, in a telephone conversation yesterday that he had "no interests" in undermining the company's value

The POTUS himself can't even keep his BS and lies strait.

I don’t get it. I have friends in relatives in the UK. Could they really believe that the President of the United States of America, Barak Obama, hates their country more than ours. I’m no chauvinist, but I push my chest out and say with certainty, “He hates us more.”

Once again, Obozo completely misunderestimates flyover country Americans. We can be madder than hell at BP but still recognize when a president attempts to go well beyond his constitutional authority.

In other words, we aren’t the inner city gimmie gimmie gimmie crowd he’s so used to organizing.

the National Academy of Engineering, have since revealed that they actually opposed a halt to drilling.

A majority of gulf coast residents, many of whom know, are related to, or themselves work in the oil fields oppose a halt to drilling. Most of the country who would rather see 'cheap oil' than 'expensive oil' over the long haul oppose a halt to drilling. Looks like just a couple of commies in the whitehouse, and the standard list of envirowackos, wanted the halt in dirlling. Best to keep oil companies healthy so they can clean up their messes (works just like it does in the kitchen).

The real money is in the use of dispersements. There is a company called NALCO. Goldman Sachs, Blackstone and Apollo all purchased NALCO. NALCO is based in Chicago .. NALCO is associated with the University of Chicago Argonne program. The Obamas both worked for the University of Chicago. UChicago Argonne received $164,000,000 in stimulus funds this past year and just added two new executives to its roster: one from NALCO, the other from the Illinois Department of Education.

IF you dig a little deeper you will find NALCO is also associated with Warren Buffett, Maurice Strong, Al Gore, Soros, Apollo, Blackstone, Goldman Sachs, Hathaway Berkshire. Warren Buffet/Hathaway Berkshire increased their holdings in NALCO just last November. (Timing is everything).

Ken Salazar, the interior minister who ordered the ban, has now apologised. "The experts involved in crafting the report gave us their recommendation and their input," he said. "It was not their decision on the moratorium. It was my decision and the president's decision to move forward.

In other words, Obama doesn't even listen to the experts telling him whose ass to kick, he decides on his own.

Another lie.

§311(c)(1) The President shall institute means for the removal of an oil discharge and mitigation or prevention of the threat of a discharge (1) into the navigable water of the U.S. or adjoining shorelines; (2) into or on the waters of the exclusive economic zone; or (3) that may affect natural resources of the U.S. In doing so the President has the authority to make any arrangements for removal or prevention, direct removal actions, and remove or destroy a vessel releasing or that has the threat of releasing.

§311(c)(2) The President shall direct all Federal, State, and private actions to remove a discharge or mitigate or prevent the threat of a discharge from onshore or offshore facilities which is determined to be a substantial threat to the public health or welfare of the United States.

§311(j)(1)(A) The President is required to establish methods and procedures for removal of discharged oil and hazardous substances as part of the National Response System.

§311(j)(1)(C) The President is authorized to issue regulations establishing procedures, methods, equipment, and other requirements to prevent discharges of oil from vessels and facilities.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/05/28/disaster-gulf-days-counting/ At the White House: Obama meets Italian President Giorgio Napolitano, then travels to San Francisco for fundraisers for Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. "DAY 36 May 25
Obama flies to San Fran to party with Getty Oil family

And raise millions for Barbara Boxer

"As CNN reported today [25th May], Obama will headline three fundraisers in San Francisco for Boxer and for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. The events are scheduled to be held at the Fairmont Hotel, in the city's affluent Nob Hill district, and at the home of Ann and Gordon Getty, wealthy philanthropists who head their family's billion dollar trust.

The decision to raise campaign funds with Getty the heir to the multi-billion-dollar Getty Oil fortune draws even further attention to the President’s misplaced priorities as he flies across the continent for a campaign fundraiser while a major man-made disaster damages the ecosystem and economy of the Gulf Coast.

President Obama and Barbara Boxer’s hypocrisy is astonishing. In the wake of this ongoing national crisis, why didn’t the Democrats reschedule his fancy fundraiser with the billionaire oil heirs and allow the President to direct his full attention toward the massive disaster that is plaguing the Gulf Coast? asked National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spokeswoman Amber Marchand. While the President makes time to fly across the country to rake in campaign cash for struggling Democrats like Barbara Boxer, today’s trip comes at a special cost for residents of the Gulf Coast region who want the President’s full attention on this enormous problem." - link

Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund(OSLTF) means the fund established under section 9509 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986(26 U.S.C. 9509).

With the consolidation of these funds and the collection of a tax on the petroleum industry, the Fund increased to $1 billion. Fund uses were delineated by OPA to include:

* Removal costs incurred by the Coast Guard and EPA
* State access for removal activities;
* Payments to federal, state, and Indian tribe trustees to conduct natural resource damage assessments and restorations;
* Payment of claims for uncompensated removal costs and damages;
* Research and development; and
* Other specific appropriations.

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 increased the maximum size of the Fund to $2.7 billion.

The Emergency Fund

To ensure rapid, effective response to oil spills, the President has the authority to make available—without Congressional appropriation—up to $50 million each year to fund removal activities and initiate NRDAs. Funds not used in a fiscal year are available until expended. To the extent that $50 million is inadequate, the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002 granted authority to advance up to $100 million from the Principal Fund to fund removal activities. (This provision has not been utilized to date.)

I think it is damn foolish to continually blame BP, rather than keep your mouth shut & work with BP to resolve this crisis. There is plenty of time after the well is capped to do a complete investigation & then assign blame where it belongs. This blame game & Holder's criminal investigation only distract BP from the problem.

Regardless of who is at fault, the COAST GUARD & the Environmental Protection Agency, along with other gov’t agencies, have a responsibility to protect our coasts from pollution, whatever the source. That responsibility extends all the way to the White House.

It is highly likely that these catastrophic spills will happen again. The next time, the responsible party may not be as willing or able as BP to remedy the situation. Our gov’t should have the resources & plan in place to protect our coasts, & they need in NOW!

There is no guarantee that BP will EVER cap the well or cleanup the Gulf Coast. I doubt BP has the assets to compensate the many thousands of businesses & people this disaster has affected, even if the well were capped tomorrow. If BP goes bankrupt, who will finish the cleanup & help the affected?

If we can spend billions bailing out the banks, GM, AIG, etc., from disasters of their own making, then the gov’t can damn sure spend billions rescuing the Gulf Coast from a disaster it had no hand in.

In other words, the President intentionally chose to lie to the American people.

Treason
