Agency head complained of 'free ride' for online news readers
Federal Trade Commission (FTC) leaders are attempting to distance themselves from controversial proposals published in a May 24 working paper on "reinventing" the media. The report presents a suite of options through which government could step in and supposedly rescue journalism, most notably by imposing taxes. A fee could be levied on websites such as the Drudge Report that link to the best news of the day, or a tax could be imposed on consumer electronics such as iPads, laptops and Kindles. Funds collected would be redistributed to traditional media outlets. FTC Chairman Jon Leibowitz torpedoed the device tax in testimony Wednesday before a Senate Judiciary subcommittee, saying, "I think that's a terrible idea."

This will promote freedom of the press.
Ya think?
It’s the only way MSNBC,CNN,CNBC can compete. Supply and demand is about to be replaced by propaganda.
Wrong thinking is punished, right thinking is just as swiftly rewarded. You'll find it an effective combination.
I have an idea... let’s dissolve the US and start over.

Who said: “The power to tax is the power to destroy.” ?
I’m losing my patience with these jokers.
You say you want a revolution, well you know, you’re going to get one.
I think they will try “real” journalism = culture, and attempt the NEA / PBS / NPR, route.
exactly what they want... because they have the infrastructure ready to respond
the issue is the people that are driving this mindset. they need to be removed from the system, system-wide, otherwise their influence and efforts will continue.
the first step in doing this... would be identifying ALL of them. of course, then they would pull out the hollywood elite to cry about witch hunts and such

So how come it is that the internet bloggers are breaking news stories when the MSM won’t touch this stuff. And if the internet bloggers are delivering the real news of the day, what happened to the Constitutional command that says, “Congress shall pass no laws ....”
The FTC just doesn’t want to recognize the Internet as a legitimate news source that is followed by more readers than the lame print medium or the broadcast news sources have.

Or at least pull some teeth out of these bureaucrats who weren’t even elected and who are out to get more tax revenue that they are calling licensing fees. Don’t kid yourself — it’s a tax.

I get that same feeling too. Which one is Matthews and which is Olbermann?
Let’s fire the crats... both kinds... dim and bureau.

Clinton really got the ball rolling talking about people only getting news from sources they agree with. In other words, if you’re going to watch Fox you should be required to watch msnbc since that’s the only way msnbc could get any viewers. Hang on, folks. That moaning sound you hear is America’s dieing gasp.
