Here is some more on these 'changes'. Do remember, Corrections Corporation of America as well as other 'private prison' systems give BIG $$$$ to candidates...one of them being John McCain.
IMPROVING DETENTION
ICE and the private prison company Corrections Corporation of America have agreed to make more than 24 changes at nine facilities. The changes include:
Relaxing security: Low-risk detainees will have freedom of movement in the facilities and will no longer be subject to lock downs or lights out.
Access: Detainees will be able to have visitors stay as long as they like within a 12-hour window. The facilities will increase attorney visitation space, add un-monitored phone lines and give detainees email and free, Internet-based calling. A unit manager will be available to take complaints directly from detainees.
Daily life: Detainees will be allowed to wear regular clothing, will have at least four hours of recreation daily, and will be offered cooking, art and dance classes.
WTF????
Keep in mind...these detention centers are newer, modern and provide better health care and just about everything else than our servicemen get in Vet hospitals.
And yet ICE is claiming it doesn’t have the resources to deport illegals turned over by Arizona. Maybe Sheriff Joe and the other good sheriffs in Arizona should erect a tent city down by the border to keep them until ICE decides it can deport them.
The detention centers will become magnets for illegal immigration. Cross the border just to get placed in a detention center.
This is insane
why bother?
so illegals will check in , stay as long as they like and check out.
Good Lord who is in charge
thanks for this story AB We need to send this around the country
I guess we weren’t spending enough funds for the illegal immigrants. Seems to me we should buy them cars too. It’s humane to let them visit their relatives, drive back and forth to their day labor jobs.
Also, we’re going to turn off the 24/7 TVs that show speeches made by President Obama, not only is this more humane, but it cuts down on our agency’s Carbon Footprint!
I know I should be indignant, but this article made me laugh out loud! What inhumane beast would deprive people of art classes and bingo? /s
this may be the 1st time I ever agreed with what union leaders are claiming.
¡Idiotas!
“...Wow, I would just like to say the new hallway door colors are fabulous. I mean it is quite refreshing to see the federal government throw open the door to a more metro sexual interpretation of color schemes inside our buildings. Gone are the macho stereotypes that so forced us into behavioral straight jackets. We can now be free to embrace our more feminine side in the work environment, Yin and Yang you know. The choice of sky for the entry side where the buses enter was inspirational.
The embrace of a bright morning color to the East doors just sings of new hope. The more subdued but still bright willow to the medical end speaks of organic springs promise of individual growth. Most officers here would have picked green and blue. Far be it from me to interject with suggestions because I know you just have a delicious designer picking out the color schemes; but since I work in the detention building I thought I would just run a few suggestions up the flag pole and see how many boys salute.
First, the main hallway looks so industrial. I mean, what is up with gray? Not even a tea green gray or asparagus gray, but some sort of frustrated homophobic gun gray. What are we trying to say here? It seems so harsh. I envision a warm fuscia. It might seem shocking at first but the colors strong accents on energy interact nicely with sky and willow. After all, no one stops in the main corridor. They are always en route to another destination. Why not give them a little pep in their walk? A little Joy de Vivre?
Now the two modules centered off of fuscia should speak of care and comfort. For the minimum pod I thought of ecru. Warm, unstructured and without the intensity of purpose that fuscia imports, it provides a positive energy source to nourish the mind. For the infirmary, we want to center the chi energy into healing. A heliotrope is a nice compromise with fuscia. Still pushing energy, but without being needy and insensitive to the individual need for a calming aura. We must be supportive mustnt we?
To be completely honest I was at a loss for the housing modules on each side. There is so much change in people coming and going that I cant get a handle on what would bring the most positive energy to the space. SO, I thought to settle on selecting the aura of the first time I walked into the module. Sometimes a guy has to say what the heck. Go for it. Flaunt it.
For housing people caught in Louisiana- like Burgundy. For Texas- Aqua. For New Mexico- puce. For Oklahoma- Oh my god! Definitely a raspberry shade. And for Arizona with all its hostile vibes, periwinkle. Must calm all that testosterone down.
Now, for the rest of the building. Frankly, there is nothing to be done to fix booking/processing. It is a complete do over. Since we are going to build on with all those poor people being swept up, we should think of just writing off booking and putting it in the new wing. There is no correction for its present harshness. You would think some right wing Republican designed it. It is so repressed.
First, we must bring in a feng shui master (Yes silly, that is how you spell it.). When a person is brought in they have been terribly traumatized. Say you are a drunk (an illness)undocumented American and high on drugs (more illness), and just raped a six year old neighbor kid( definitely needs therapy, so many issues) that last thing you want is a negative energy space. Now, I know policy frowns on hugs, but lets try to be supportive, not judgmental. So maybe we design the space to be not so linear. Lets bring in gentle curves to let out the bad energy and bring in the good. And, what is this with the lack of life force? The current booking/processing just screams for decorative plantings.
Lets bring in lots of plants and the soothing sounds of running water. I envision an atrium. Wouldnt that be so lovely? Maybe we could incorporate a waterfall. Think of how we could lower stress if an incoming detainee was met with warm sun tones, full spectrum light, and maybe a cleansing strawberry fruit smoothie.
Now I know what you are thinking, but Im not through yet. I havent missed it. Say the incoming person is absolutely bedraggled by enduring the horrendous indignity of being grabbed by macho men and held in bondage against his will where was I, I got lost in the imagery. Oh well, lets just leave it at he was manhandled. Why damage his MS-13 self image with immediate booking? Already weve started to turn a frown upside down with our positive space. What we need to do is pamper, not punish. What would you think of a spa? Maybe with a little aromatherapy and a cucumber eye pack, someone who has been up doing meth for seven days straight can finally relax. Too much alcohol? Try an oatmeal body scrub and an acupuncture treatment. Sex offender? A macrobiotic meal plan to reduce harmful body toxins. The possibilities are endless. We have pushed our reset button to the world and now need to lead by example.
But, I also have to say, we really need to work on ourselves. When we interact with our customers, what image do we project? I mean really, uniforms? It is SO twentieth century. Most of us are not only secure in our masculinity we revel in it. Now, lets just envision ourselves in a winter color outfit, I would go all the way to pumpkin but that might be a bit too radical. So, I would settle for a cinnamon color. White boots would be just peachy (Pun intended), but then you would have to have a different color after Labor Day.
If we are keeping the black boots, then couldnt we accessorize with
maybe some scarves of multi color? Department of Immigration colors even? Wouldnt that be an homage to tradition? When new illegal alien, no strike that, guests or customers, see sky willow, or any of the new colors. I really want them to say- in the only street vernacular so comfortable to them, WHAT THE F**K?
We are so trend setting here at ICE!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s AGAINST THE LAW to enter this Country illegally. If you do so, then you are violating a Federal Statute, which is BREAKING the LAW. That makes you a CRIMINAL.
It's just our way of apologizing for not being Mexico.
Lordy!
As long as there's a wet bar and live music, that's fine.
Ping!
