Lefties usually write this stuff only when a Republican is in the oval office. Wiki on "In These Times":

In These Times is a politically progressive monthly magazine of news and opinion published by the Institute for Public Affairs in Chicago. In These Times was established as a broadsheet format fortnightly newspaper in 1976 by James Weinstein, a life-long socialist, with the aid of prominent intellectuals such as Noam Chomsky, Herbert Marcuse, and Julian Bond . . . continued here

The lesson here? Be careful what you vote for...you just might get it.

I don’t want to hear about urban minorities.
The subject for discussion should be the impoverished generally.
Those who work as well as those who don’t.
This is a bad choice in content, In These Times.

They will still blame someone other than themselves. They deserve all the poverty they get (and voted for).

Let me guess, women and minorities hit hardest? That’s the answer to every event. How come no deep studies on white people?

Black teen unemployment is ~40%...the INTENDED consequence of crap education, anti-manufacturing land use regs, and a rising minimum wage.

When you kill the goose (rich people) that lays golden eggs (jobs), what do you expect?

Well, I read the report, and it’s the usual stuff. No mention of criminal activity or teenage pregnancy as explanations for employment differentials between groups, or of taxes to explain geographic differences.

I know it’s bad but how many of these are illegal from the construction industry? I know a builder in Houston that had 150 closings last month and 2 sales. So some harder times are a comin’ indeed.

whites at 8.8 percent; blacks at 15.5 percent; and Hispanics, 12.4 percent.

1. What about Asians.

2. The reason Hispanic unemployment is so high in Hartford and Providence, relative to the lower Hispanic unemployment rates elsewhere (in aggregate, the Hispanic unemployment rate is above that of whites, but below that of blacks nationally), is due to the fact that many of the Hispanics in those cities are the native born children and grandchildren of Puerto Rican migrants who came up here from the 1940s-1960s, and who have no interest in doing the jobs that "Americans won't do." Many of these Hartford and Providence "hispanics" can't even speak Spanish.

Not to make light of the difficult circumstances that a lot of people are facing, but . . .

Isn't it ALWAYS a "depression" for urban minorities in this country? I mean, aren't the unemployment rates for these groups substantially higher than average even in the best of times?

they don’t seem to care, so long as they can still line up somewhere for a piece of Obama’s stash

So much for hope and change.

Some people think that Obama is screwing up the economy on purpose. I don't know either way but, if he is, he's hurting blacks a lot more than Reagan and the two Bushes did.

Hussein still has a 91% approval rating among blacks, according to Gallup.

Translation: makes no difference. The unemployment rate could be 75%, and he'd still hold sway. Sad, but true.

The REPUBLICAN NATIONAL PARTY needs to be providing a platform for outstanding conservatives out there like Star Parker, Tim Scott, Thomas Sowell, Lloyd Marcus, and Frances Rice, among others.

I know Sowell gets a weekly column, but these good people need to be brought together and show their fellow African Americans that being black DOESN'T MEAN SUPPORTING HUSSEIN!

Even the centrist New York Times columnist David Leonhardt concedes the Democrats won't be pushing for massive jobs creation even as unemployment remains the top concern

LOL right what kind of centrist works at the NY Slimes?
