Don’t forget that Emperor Nero was going to be caught, imprisoned, and executed near the end of his reign! There was a big military encampment (now this was pertaining to the book: “Quo Vadis”, I don’t know if one existed in Rome itself)in/or close to Rome. He persuaded some servants to ‘kill’ him in order to avoid being hauled out in front of the people to be judged and executed. He couldn’t stand that scenario!
