(CNN) -- The morning the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded, a BP executive and a Transocean official argued over how to proceed with the drilling, rig survivors told CNN's Anderson Cooper in an exclusive interview.
The survivors' account paints perhaps the most detailed picture yet of what happened on the deepwater rig -- and the possible causes of the April 20 explosion.
The BP official wanted workers to replace heavy mud, used to keep the well's pressure down, with lighter seawater to help speed a process that was costing an estimated $750,000 a day and was already running five weeks late, rig survivors told CNN.
BP won the argument, said Doug Brown, the rig's chief mechanic. "He basically said, 'Well, this is how it's gonna be.' "

You’re welcome.
That remains to be seen.
Agreed. I too read as accounting a couple of weeks ago that the BP representative strong-armed the operation to cut corners.
I’m not sold and if I ever am, it damn sure won’t be by the likes of CNN.
This is the story of how $26m of expense became $26b worth of expense because of short cuts, probably because someone wasn't thinking about what would happen if things went wrong.
This is very old news. See FR post I made on May 11 referencing a WSJ article: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2511207/posts
Most companies do this. But then again, if my company does, we just make a sticky, edible, mess.

Have you got any evidence of that, other than your own imagination?

One question. Was the BP official among the dead?
Didn't BP donate more to Obama than any other politician? What did Obama know; and when did he know it?
Where did you get that $1 million figure of BP giving to Obama’s campaign?’
Right now, all the evidence in print is that the BP Corporate PAC gave nothing at all to Obama. The latest verified figures (from opensecret.org) of BP-related donations were $71,000, all from individual BP employees. Obama raised a total of $656 million altogether, almost completely from small individual donors, $1830 in total from PACs.
It’s illegal for a corporation to give money directly to a candidate. Where did you get the $1 million figure? SDo you have any evidence of bundling or other payoffs that could be used as the grounds for impeachment?

Can you post that list or a link to it please?
The only downhole sensor the completion rig would have is the drill bit cutting through a plug into formation pressure.
From listening to the interview with survivors, they said the crew felt uneasy about the project since so much had gone wrong from the start... very uneasy atmosphere on the rig.

Read the thread.
In fact, there's a vast body of literature and disputes with EPA and environmentalists over the matter of using "brown mud" ~ all easily found.
My thoughts regarding "regulations" arise out of my many decades writing them. There are some transferable skills in this world ~ one such skill is the ability to read into a quite reasonable situation the possibility that there's someone in there tricking rules to trip the unwary. Some regulation writing types do it just to make people jump ~ for many good examples of that read through Obamakkkare!
I agree that it doesn’t take the heat off of Obama, but I think there is an effort to shift the focus away from his failings.
