Barring a last-minute reprieve, Ronnie Lee Gardner will be strapped into a chair, a hood will be placed over his head and a small white target will be pinned over his heart.
The order will come: "Ready, aim..."
The 49-year-old convicted killer will be executed by a team of five anonymous marksmen firing with a matched set of .30-caliber rifles. He is to be the third person executed by firing squad in Utah or anywhere else in the U.S. since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976.
Utah was a long holdout in keeping the method, which it has used in 40 of its 49 executions in the last 160 years. Utah lawmakers made lethal injection the default method of execution in 2004, but inmates condemned before then can still choose the firing squad.

“Shoot straight you bastards, don’t make a mess of it.”
He won’t be tied to a pole with a cigarette and blindfold? That takes some of the nostalga out of it.
What do you want on your tombstone?

A redhead, a brunette, and a blonde are all about to be shot by a firing squad. The redhead goes out first and stands in front of them. Right before they shoot, the redhead screams, “Tornado!” The firing squad turns to look, and the redhead runs away.
The brunette is up next, and decides it would be a good idea to to do the same thing that the redhead did. So, just as the firing squad is about to shoot, she screams, “Earthquake!” The firing squad looks around for a moment, distracted, giving the brunette just enough time to run away.
Then the blonde comes up and decides to copy the redhead and the brunette. Just as the firing squad is about to shoot, the blonde screams, “Fire!”

However he dies, it will come 25 years too late. This man murdered 2 people.
In 1985.
For 25 years, he has spit in the face of justice being served. Ridiculous.

None of your family or friends is a lawyer, and I suppose you never met a lawyer who argued the side of a case you agreed with, or who worked without pay for a conservative cause?
I can certainly agree with the statement as far as getting the bullets in the right place. However, there will still be a mess to clean up with paint scrapers. But of course that is not his problem.
I shoulda ducked.
