Gulf Oil Spill Not Dragging Down Obama’s Approval Ratings (Rasmussen Analysis)
Rasmussen ^ | 6/7/10 | Rasmussen

Posted on 06/07/2010 6:25:16 AM PDT by SoFloFreeper

There is plenty of chatter in opinion columns and places where political junkies gather about how the Gulf oil spill is hurting public perceptions of President Obama. Some are calling it this president’s Katrina. Others have compared it to the Carter-era hostage crisis.

Nice analysis...ends with this:

So if the numbers are showing no change, why does the Political Class talk as if they have? It’s hard to know.

Perhaps the political junkies are ahead of the curve and recognize that the oil spill storyline may eventually cause public support to erode.

Or they may be behind the curve and are just beginning to recognize the decline that began long ago.

Perhaps the simplest explanation of all is that those in the political world just don’t have a good understanding of the general public.

What is dragging down 0’s numbers is the dawning realization that this is the 0, not Bush, economy. Right now a majority of voters still blame Bush, not 0, for this economy. However, that number is declining month by month and will soon switch over to more blaming 0 then Bush.

Even the most brain dead Democrat voter is going to realize sooner or later that the people calling the shots in DC all have a D next to there name.

The people who continue to support this poser are like Jim Jones’ followers. He can do no wrong. He is the one. He is the anointed. He is the holy. He is the messiah!

What’s different this time is the press isn’t maintaining a 24x7 drumbeat of “Obama’s Fault!!”

The Democrat Party is not a political organization but a religious cult.

NOTHING SHORT OF 0 TURNING INTO A WHITE MAN WILL DRAG DOWN HIS APPROVAL RATINGS.

The people who voted for him voted for him for thre main reasons

  1. He's black. Well this hasn't changed. He's still black, so these voters aren't going to change their minds.
  2. He's a socialist hell bent on destroying our capitalist society and replacing it with the equivalent of Cuba or communist Russia. He's done everything in his power to advance those aims. He's done more to destroy the fundamental way the US works than anyone else in history (except possibly FDR), so he has exceeded the wildest expectations of the indolent and socialistic. They're not going to change their minds. He's what they wanted.
  3. Finally those who thought change was a good thing even though they'd had PLENTY of warning as to what this clown was going to do. Well they were too stupid to realize that they were voting to destroy the usa then, and they haven't gotten any smarter since. so they aren't going to change their minds wither.
I see a second term. (barf)

Exactly; many are STILL keeping with the drumbeat of "Bush's Fault." Amazing.

Unfortunately, I do too, unless a worthy challenger surfaces early next year; I don't see him/her yet.

My insightful analysis?

The Oil spill isn't dragging BO's numbers down. He's managing to tank all by himself. :-)

Or perhaps they just need something to explain to themselves why the chosen one tanked. It’ couldn’t have been health care. So it must have been that d**ned oil company.

Contrast with the Gallup Poll that Fox cited this morning in which 40% of Americans listed "terrorism" and 40% listed "the debt" as the #1 problem facing the country today!!

Now, after nine years of the drive-bys telling us that al-Qaeda really isn't a threat, it's pretty reassuring to see that not only do most Americans still think terrorism is a threat, but 40% consider it the BIGGEST threat. Ditto the debt.

And how does little Barry come out on each of these issues? Anyone? Bueller?

Figure that his Rock Bottom is around 25-30 percent. 12-14% of the population is black. 10-15% always, always vote Dem, no matter who's on the ticket (ANYTHING is BETTER than an EVIL ReTHUGlican!!!). And then there's another 5% who misunderstand the questions, like to mess with the survey, flip a coin and answer, are dead, convicted felons, etc etc etc.

He hasn't hit his floor yet, but he's getting there. Carville turning on him last weekend was a turning point, I think....That was a signal that it's OK for the press to go negative on him.

Watch Hillary. If she quits the SoS job (esp. before the November elections), it means that she thinks BO is vulnerable and is making a move.

For much of election season 2008 I had a Limbaugh/Hannity 2008 bumper sticker on my car.. just for fun. I live in a fairly strong Republican neighborhood (a southeast suburb of Phoenix). One day ( summer of 08) a guy from my neighborhood walking his dog, about early middle age I would say, looked at the sticker on my car sitting on the driveway, smiled and said.. “if only that would come true”. The he paused and added , “you know, I like Obama too. I think he is going to be great.”. My jaw dropped.

There were a lot of idiot Republicans from CO, VA, NC and other places who had been had. And for these, the main motivator was white guilt.

The left never changes in it’s support of it’s fanatic flacks. True believers to the end.

The left is incapable of change or reasoning.

In 2000 Clinton’s administration released federal funds to 52 Arkansas counties affected by winter storms.

(See: https://www.fema.gov/news/newsrelease.fema?id=7538)

Bush’s administration released funds to Louisiana two days before Katrina struck.

Did Obama’s administration release federal funds to Louisiana parishes so they could prepare (in a TIMELY manner) for the oil coming ashore?
