You Won't See Me ever buying a ticket to a Paul McCartney concert after his remarks in the east room of the White House after being given the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. And I've Got a Feeling that many McCartney fans won't Dig It when they find out.
After the ceremony and concert, Paul McCartney told the White House crowd that, "After the last eight years, it's great to have a President who knows what a library is."
Nobody I Know would ever condone such a rude and demeaning comment in the confines of the White House - especially after just being honored there. But McCartney couldn't Let It Be and acted just like a Little Child waiting for the perfect time to embarrass himself.
The elitist audience clapped and cheered McCartney's repugnant comment when No Reply would have been the respectful response.
We all sometimes get in trouble for Things We Said Today, but there's a time and There's a Place for comments such as this, and the White House is definitely not the place.
Baby, You're a Rich Man Mr. McCartney, but that doesn't give you the right to bash any former president in our White House.
Maybe you can make comments like that on some Magical Mystery Tour down The Long and Winding Road to Penny Lane or Back in the USSR, but never at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
What You're Doing Mr. McCartney is letting everyone know exactly What Goes On in that liberal elitist mind of yours.
And It Won't Be Long until America peers into the Looking Glass and no longer sees a rock and roll icon, just The Fool On The Hill.
Unfortunately Mr. McCartney, you'll have to Carry That Weight for the rest of your life.
Hello, Goodbye Mr. McCartney.

I guess it’s proper for the Queen and her British subjects to refer to him as “sir”, but we sure as hell don’t have to over here.
I can think of many things to call him, but “sir” isn’t one of them.

Yup, a stupid comment by a singer sends them over the edge. Bush’s ethnic cleansing of America was just dandy....

What a maroon. McCartney revealed himself as another Fool on the Hill. 0bama's the king of fools on Capitol Hill - McCartney's ignorant swipes at Bush, licking 0bama's boots with his oh-so-witty tongue, are likely to cause him a world of regret. Good.

Not to mention that couple of ‘fools’ up the thread who just HAD to come on here and trash GWB right along with Paul McCartney! Something about Mr. Bush just drives them wild; it seems that all they come on here for is to belly-ache about him.
It doesn’t matter that we have Mr. Marxist in the White House; oh no, they just have to come here to attack George Bush again and again! He must be getting into their heads and driving them insane with hatred, such a pity!

Doe Sir Paul realize that Obama is the TAX MAN ?
To: Sans-Culotte
Sir Paul’s stupid and inappropriate remark aside, who do people think was the better songwriter, Paul McCartney or John Lennon ?
I have often wondered how many MORE memorable songs Lennon would have written had he not died early...
To: NoRedTape
I'll always be a big fan of the Beatle's music, but like all liberal musicians, they should just shut and sing.
That said, perhaps Sir Paul should get a tighter fitting wig so he isn't required to hold it on with one hand?

In the words of John Lennon, Hes a Real Nowhere Man.What a "Loser".
My daughter gave me John Lennon's 800+ page biography for Christmas year before last. Finally finished it a couple of weeks ago. Gave me a much better understanding as to how mentally screwed up he was.
Two weeks later, Paul re-emphasizes the fact that John was the talent, and Paul was the walrus.

Paul's solo career is much better, IMO, while Lennon's solo career is just so much Oedipal angst. How creative could you be with Yoko Ono hanging around 24/7?

Now that Paul's older, losing his mind
Many years have flown
Are we still entranced with all those Beatles songs
Or do they sound weird without the bongs?
Once he was famous, meeting the Queen
Now he's just a bore
Why can't he just gut up
Go home and shut up
Now he's 64?

Lennon and Harrison were the true talents.Sorry, you lost me right there. There's no way Harrison was in the same league as Lennon or McCartney. Several of his songs are plagiarized, and he was even sued for it. Lennon and McCartney were the creative force behind The Beatles.
McCartney could never stand on his own. Heck, even Ringo wrote "Yellow Submarine" which was more fun and has played more than anything I've heard from McCartney.
"Yellow Submarine"? You'd rank that alongside "All My Loving", "Can't Buy Me Love", "Yesterday", et al? even John, in an interview just before he died, said he wished he'd written "All My Loving". And Paul was the driving force behind Sgt. Pepper. Indeed, Paul's solo work is not as distinguished as his Beatles songs. I guess some people wanna build a world with Silly Love Songs. And what's wrong with that?
None of the Beatles were as successful in their solo careers (artistically) as they were as Beatles.
Bummer for Paul. Yes, he is a Wanker.
At least we agree on that-Sir Paul is a wanker. But we must not dismiss his brilliant songwriting and performances with The Beatles then just because he is a wanker now.

Lennon was the leader. McCartney and Lennon did so many great songs together because John brought Paul UP many levels; Lennon motivated Paul.
After John's tragic murder, Paul was LOST. Wings and all subsequent songs were like bad dishwater jibberish, if you ask me. That's why I feel badly for Paul now. Loads of money and no connection to talent or reality. Very sad.
