One of the best posts I have ever seen on FR.
I sure love my brother and sister Americans.
Thanks for posting that. I heard part of that second verse in a scene at the start of a football game from the movie entitled “The Sum of All Fears”. I always assumed it was another verse of the Star Spangled Banner, but I had never heard it before ever. Now I now for sure that it’s the second verse of our national anthem.
I— very humbly, and happily, and proudly can say — that I was able to sing it along with this fine gentleman. It is truely a verse with meaning — especially today.
Those last four lines have always been my favorites:
“Then conquer we must, for our cause it is just -—
And this be our motto In God is our trust.
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave -—
Oer the land of the free and the home of the brave!”
(altho I must say that I thought the words were “FOR our cause — “ and not “WHEN our cause — “) I stand corrected. The word ‘when’ is as it should be.
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream: Tis the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion A home and a country should leave us no more? Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave: And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand, Between their loved home and the war's desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause. it is just, And this be our motto: "In God is our trust" And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Thank you, thank you!! Have forwarded the link to more patriots, especially to veterans. Suggest others do that too.
Bravo, tenore!
That was awesome.
Excellent!
The anti-christian, anti American detractors who made negative comments about the video on youtube can go soak their heads...
I suggest they use nice creamy, smoothly melted tar, or perhaps epoxy resin

Thanks for the post.
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Awesome! Thanks for posting that.
Don’t you just LOVE the patriotism in our movement?
