Herman Cain lead a Q&A session at the Douglas County Tea Party when a young woman asked him about the attack by the Left on our Judeo-Christian heritage in America...He addressed her question, then went to the last question of the night, and the crowd was not expecting what happened next...

Bravo, tenore!
That is actually the fourth verse. It was sung at the New York State Republican Convention on Tuesday night, followed by the first verse with everyone joining in. A new tradition a-borning.
Next a former Marine in the crowd makes reference to the second verse of the Star Spangled banner, and then sings it.
I found the second verse to the Star Spangled Banner here:

Second verse to the Star Spangled Banner:
Oh, thus be it ever when
free men shall stand
Between their loved homes
and the war's des-o-la-tion!
Blest with vic-t'ry and peace,
may the Heav'n res-cued
Praise the Pow'r that hath made
and preserved us a na-tion!
Then con-quer we must, when our cause, it is just,
And this be our mot-to:
"In God is our trust!"
And the Star-span-gled Ban-ner
in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free
and the home of the brave.
The Smithsonian says the melody is not from a bar song. I had some correspondence with them about it on another Internet site.
Will give you bonus points for all that information. Raise your grade a letter and give you a certificate or pin on awards day ;~)
Great story.
Hmm a little civil rights movement started then? Notify Beck, we've found another example.
Yes, I love that question at the end. It still gives me chills. Like a voice from the grave.
We learned AMERICA and some children get upset with the line "Land where my fathers died" Explained what forefather are with pictures of my forefathers, my grandparents and my grandmother's grandparents. (I also had the rolling pin that that grandfather made for grandma for her 8th birthday)
Then I explained that the grandfather's grandfather was probably in a camp described in Yankee Doodle....There was General Washington upon a silver stallion, a giving orders to his men I guess there were a thousand ....Told them the story (comparing it to the cherry tree story) and with the picture by Tully, they were hooked!
That was awesome.
Excellent!
The anti-christian, anti American detractors who made negative comments about the video on youtube can go soak their heads...
I suggest they use nice creamy, smoothly melted tar, or perhaps epoxy resin
A.A.C.
Thanks for the post.
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Awesome! Thanks for posting that.
Don’t you just LOVE the patriotism in our movement?
Excellent. He could really sing!
The drinking-song words:
To Anacreon in Heav'n where sat in full Glee,
A few Sons of Harmony sent a Petition,
The He their Inspirer and Patron wou'd be,
when this Answer arriv'd from the Jolly Old Grecian
"Voice Fiddle and Flute no longer be mute
I'll lend you my Name and inspire you to boot
And besides I'll instruct you like me to Intwine
The Myrtle of Venus with Bacchus's Vine
Chorus
And besides I'll instruct you like me to intwine
The Myrtle of Venus with Bacchus's Vine.
Can't make heads or tails out of it.
