Herman Cain lead a Q&A session at the Douglas County Tea Party when a young woman asked him about the attack by the Left on our Judeo-Christian heritage in America...He addressed her question, then went to the last question of the night, and the crowd was not expecting what happened next...

NOT a different version - but the SECOND verse
We have a winner! Go to the head of the class! Do not pass go ...Do not collect $200.00
I have a feeling that referencing the creator will be an important part of the curriculum in the not to distant future. Those of us who survive will see it happen...
The common-meter tune is labeled as Old 100th for that tune. I do a lot of instrumental music arranging for church, so that one is familiar to me.
But I’d really like to collect $200. lol.
Second verse of the National Anthem and it was beautiful.
Hey I was a member of the union...and on ten-year (sic)...They couldn’t have fired me any more than they could fire the teacher who swore at the kids, sat the young girls with short skirts on the front row...or any number of other “problem teachers”....They can make life he77, but truly firing is not accomplished.
“An audience member sings a different version of the National Anthem.”
Not a different version. He sang verse 2 from the original anthem.
INCREDIBLE....
What a wonderful thing to come in from outside to see. I have been out enjoying our great weather and a wonderful day here on my mountain, and then to come in and experience THIS... my day has been perfected.
Obama likes to go on and on about hope.... it’s all talk with him. BUT, that man, that gentle Marine, that American loving patriot and Christian, demonstrates what hope really is and where it comes from.
Hope.... it is within each one of us, our Founding Fathers wanted us to live it and God himself put it into the heart of man.
Patriots are standing once again, they are coming forward....WE WILL PREVAIL.
God Bless America, again.
One of the best posts I have ever seen on FR.
I sure love my brother and sister Americans.
We don’t worship the same God as they do. Not even close.
Thanks for posting that. I heard part of that second verse in a scene at the start of a football game from the movie entitled “The Sum of All Fears”. I always assumed it was another verse of the Star Spangled Banner, but I had never heard it before ever. Now I now for sure that it’s the second verse of our national anthem.
When I was in elementary school, we sang the fourth line as then kill if we must...
Cheers!
It wasn’t a different ‘version.’ It was the 2nd verse that pretty much no one knows.
I— very humbly, and happily, and proudly can say — that I was able to sing it along with this fine gentleman. It is truely a verse with meaning — especially today.
Those last four lines have always been my favorites:
“Then conquer we must, for our cause it is just -—
And this be our motto In God is our trust.
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave -—
Oer the land of the free and the home of the brave!”
(altho I must say that I thought the words were “FOR our cause — “ and not “WHEN our cause — “) I stand corrected. The word ‘when’ is as it should be.
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream: Tis the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion A home and a country should leave us no more? Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave: And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand, Between their loved home and the war's desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause. it is just, And this be our motto: "In God is our trust" And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Thank you, thank you!! Have forwarded the link to more patriots, especially to veterans. Suggest others do that too.

"Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;"
"Praise Him, ye creatures here below;"
"Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;"
"Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost."

I knew the answer, but, as an afterthought, also provided the links above, where you can hear the music and read the history and lyrics..
