We Don't Believe You, Mr. President [Fr. Euteneuer "on fire"]
Human Life International ^ | 6-4-10 | Fr. Thomas J. Euteneuer

PhotobucketDear President Obama,

Every citizen with a modicum of insight into public affairs would say that America is now at a crossroads of decision about what kind of future we want for our nation-and, by extension, for the rest of the world. Whether we like it or not, you are the one who is designated by a vote of the electorate to lead us in that decision-making process. You have asked for the job, and you have proposed yourself as being competent for it. History will judge your Administration on its own merits when your term is complete, but we, the citizens of this country, must judge it for what we see happening before our very eyes. Quite frankly, the picture isn't pretty, and you haven't earned our respect as a leader.

The reason for this, Mr. President, is that we can't believe what you say, and frankly, what you do is utterly unbelievable at times.

The recent Gulf Coast oil spill disaster is indicative of your utter carelessness with the onerous burden of governance. Not only did you dis the families of the 11 workers killed in the disaster, but you also attended fundraisers in CA, a trip to the golf course and several state parties in the White House during the whole time the Governor of Louisiana has been screaming frantically for your attention. How can you expect us to believe that you were actually "in charge" of handling the disaster? In six weeks we have seen hardly a shred of evidence to convince us of that. A leader who says he is in charge of something and then conducts a systematic campaign of blaming, dodging, obfuscating, ignoring and even now prosecuting the others involved - instead of fixing the problem - will hardly go down in the record books as the savior he proposed himself to be when he was elected. You are the Commander-in-Chief who has gone AWOL on a truly national crisis.

On top of all that, you basically blew off a sacred national holiday, Memorial Day, for the sake of a vacation to gangsterland. That slap in the face to our military men and women was not lost on anyone, nor was the narcissistic disregard for American history or anything other than what fits your extreme political agenda. These are appalling traits for the one who holds the highest political office in our land, and only a fawning and dishonest media allows you to get away with this negligence in office.

Speaking of which, what are we to make of your pathetic excuse for the crime of attempting to bribe Congressman Sestak to bow out of the Senate race against Arlen Specter? Do you really think Americans believe the utterly implausible story about offering him a "non-paying" position on some presidential panel? Your Administration's explanation, issued on the afternoon of a holiday weekend, rings hollow, and everyone knows it. "Hollow" is an adequate word to describe your Administration, your political theatre and your rhetoric. Even some of your staunchest ideological supporters admit that it is getting increasingly hard to believe that you mean anything you say.

In the midst of all this domestic incompetence and dishonesty, we have seen no realistic response to North Korean, Iranian or Turkish aggression on the world scene. Foreign politicians know you are a leftist lightweight, and so we can expect more of the same from the rogue nations of the world, further destabilizing the security of our nation and the world. We have, however, seen you and your inept band of political marauders pander to foreign dictators and exploit the Mexican President to abuse us and our national deliberations on serious issues. We have seen your ideological hacks take over whole industries, plunder the private sector, abuse the good will of states and consume sound American institutions as if they were your enemies and with a ferocity that would befit only those who we would call our true national enemies.

Like the Gulf oil spill, your Administration is out of control, and every day is another step closer to disaster. As the oil continues to pollute, kill and damage the external beauty and economy of a whole region, you and your team are doing the same with the trust of the people who built this great country.

We deserve better, Mr. President, and it's time you start doing your job.

Sincerely,
Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer
President, Human Life International

When you call Obama, you get, “Hello, this is the office of Ralhm Emanuel” “Please leave a message”.

Thanks. I get that you were being at least 99% facetious. But as to the 1%, I’ll just comment that, although I had an outstanding education at the hands of Jesuits and Basilians, and will always be grateful, I would have considered very few of those priests for any elective office above city council. A great many of the Basilians were open McGovern supporters. They were dedicated teachers but not suitable for elective office, let alone suitable for a theocracy (for which no mortal man is, in fact, qualified).

Including the good Father Euteneuer, “exorcist” or not.

Okay, enough with the human worship. Geez, you guys are as bad as the Calvinists when they fantasize about Charles Spurgeon. :-)

The “His” has a capital H, Larry. That stands for Jesus (in the Eucharist!).

The primary reason I do not want theocracy (which means, rule by priests or religious clerics as God is ruling over us already), is that it is bad for the Church. The Kingdom that the priests are princes of is not of this world and should not become of this world.

That is the primary reason. The Church has to play an active and even leading role in this world also, but that role she fulfills by teaching it and praying for it. Increasingly, the left that is now in charge drives the Church into the private sphere. Such movement if it succeeds will be suicidal for this nation. Every time praise for the Church as a social advocate and teacher is voiced, someone from the enemy’s camp would tell me, “So, you want a theocracy”. That ongoing polemic prompted my original comment.

The fact that so many among the Catholic clergy is redistributionist socialist bothers me as well. But Christian socialism is of the utopian-fabian variety. Were the Catholic clerics actually in charge of the economic life, they would quickly educate themselves on what works and what does not. Certainly, use of governmental coercion to charitable ends is completely foreign to Catholicism.

So I would put the political qualifications of the clergy to the same test we should be putting our elected leaders. There, above the city council line, I see plenty of incompetence, self aggrandizement, mendacity and criminality now. A priest, at least, would know that these are all sins to confess.

Of course, a priest wishing a direct political job would have to be laicized as it is agaisnt his vows.

What I want, in conclusion, is that all Christian clergy of the political right, Catholic, Protestant or Orthodox, gain a stronger voice and not be shy of it. The condition of this country is a scandal. As much as I admire the Tea Party folks, they alone are not going to be able to get the country back from the political class, because they lack a spiritual focus.

Very well said! I've been told to "go back to" (and much worse!) the "Religion Section" on Free Republic because of my talk stating that our next candidate needs to be a strong Christian (in my mind a daily-Mass attending, Rosary-reciting, Reconciliation-receiving Catholic would be good). You can't fight this type of flaming "scandal" in our country with a water hose. What do you think of Jindal (as a presidential candidate)?

Wow I didn't know the storm was that bad. I can't remember any presidential appearance being washed out like that.

Someone on another thread said that the weather cleared up dramatically as soon as Zero was in the air flying back to DC, LOL

Says a lot about the person residing in our White House.

It also says a lot about the people who voted for that idiot. We have diehard dims who are using the the HOPE sticker with DOPE instead in Austin TX now.

I am not in Louisiana, but I like him a lot.

In fact, I was going to point out that his article, 'How Catholicism Is Different - THE CATHOLIC CHURCH ISN'T JUST ANOTHER "DENOMINATION"' (FR posting from New Oxford Review) was on my profile page, but it turned out that the thread had "copyright issues".

This is the link to the original article: www.newoxfordreview.org. I'l go update my profile.

I am not in Louisiana, but I like him [Jindal] a lot.
Thanks for the link, however, you have to "pay up" before they give ya the *full* goods. I might do so; it looks like a good article. The article about Jindal's participation in an exorcism is actually an excerpt (but it's a sizable one!) as well. Jindal has a new book out in August which contains information on his conversion. I'm not sure how much of the book's time is spent with it, but I am looking forward to reading it. With Bobby's response in the Gulf, it's obvious his humanity is that of a strong Christian, and with Euteneuer in Jindal's corner, wow, it could be a very interesting bout if he went up against our current dark administration. Fasten you seat belts, and pray ...

Father Euteneuer
Fr E left Sean hannity in the dust as well!
Indeed! I believe Sean would be referred to as a "cafeteria 'pick and choose' Catholic." Couples that practice Natural Family Planning have around a 3% divorce rate (compared to the current 50%). Now if you combine that with couples that recite the daily rosary together, attend daily mass together, and receive frequent (every other week or so) confession, the divorce rate is right around .007%.:):)
I repeat, you will be able to tell them by their fruits --Matt 7:20.

Yes. I used that article for years, — it had a good collection of scripture quotes on the sacraments, — but apparently New Oxford Review complained that it undermined their copyright.
