Jim Greer was Charlie Crist’s hand picked sycophant. He was booted as chairman of the FL GOP earlier this year.

Quick! Time for some factless internet speculation!

I'm going with misuse of funds related to an illicit affair. I'll go with a grown woman for the affair.

He was pushed out of the party back in Feb., so I doubt it will reflect much on the party as a whole...not that the media won’t try to make it the biggest story since the moon landing however...(eye roll).

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has been investigating Greer after an audit found he awarded himself and his executive director a fundraising contract that paid them about $200,000.

Greer was arrested at his central Florida home Wednesday morning. Calls to the FDLE were not immediately returned. The Seminole County Jail confirmed the arrest.

Greer resigned under pressure in February after reports of lavish spending on private jets, decadent meals and entertainment after party activists and major donors called for his resignation.

Good. Time to purge every double-dealing, corrupt RINO from the GOP, and restore it to conservatism and integrity.

It may have something to do with this:

Republican Party of Florida releases $7.3 million in American Express statements

By John Frank, Times/Herald Tallahassee Bureau
In Print: Saturday, May 8, 2010

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TALLAHASSEE — Gov. Charlie Crist took chartered helicopters and his wealthy wife let the Republican Party pay for her airfare. A top GOP official charged $368,000 in a single month. And another party staffer collected enough credit card rewards points to earn a diamond-studded watch.

This is what it was like at the Republican Party of Florida under former chairman Jim Greer, whose lavish spending and secret dealings led to his ouster and sparked a federal criminal investigation.

But it's just a glimpse from the 2,452 double-sided pages of credit card records released Friday by the party in an effort to quell further speculation amid the ongoing controversy.

The documents detail how 31 party officials spent $7.3 million since 2007 — specific expenses never disclosed in public campaign finance reports.
