(Reuters) - The government has launched a criminal probe into BP Plc's (BP.L) massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, Attorney General Eric Holder said on Tuesday.
Federal agencies, including the FBI, are participating in the probe and "if we find evidence of illegal behavior, we will be forceful in our response," Holder told reporters after meeting with state and federal prosecutors in New Orleans.

Cool. We can have an exhaustive investigation starting with why oil companies are forced to drill in deep water where its nearly impossible to stop leaks and continue trough to the safety award given the very rig that exploded by the Obama Administration last year.

BP wants to get this thing under control. It’s BP’s money that’s flowing out of that pipe. As for stopping cutting, well they didn’t stop. They just shifted position. They are cutting right now. Nothing to do with the teleprompter in chief.
I thought the Obama administration has been in cotrol since day one. At least that’s what Obama said when he thought top kill was workign simultaneously with his statement. So, wouldn’t the US GOvt be investigating itself?
They didn’t take GM, Chrysler, Merrill Lynch, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Citigroup, etc, etc, etc to court. They just usurped the law, tore up legal agreements, threw legitimate creditors in the streets, robbed the treasury and ignored the rule of law.
No courts needed, except for show trials like KSM and BP. One will be given every chance at defense. The other will be railroaded. Guess which is which.
Amazingly Obama and Holder think that you can solve engineering problems by throwing more lawyers on.

This ‘Black Wave’ -dead zone in the Gulf, (like the ‘Black Blizzard’ of the Great Depression dust bowl) will be laid at the feet of incompetent bureaucrats.
Providing millions in income to two of his most $$$upportive constituencies - lawyers and public employee unions.

And take all their equipment everywhere in the US so the great Zero cannot impound or confiscate it for use by the government. Immediately load it all on their ships and go Bye-Bye. Also close all offices, definitely close all oil wells now pumping or drilling in the US (including Alaska), stop shipping oil to the US except for cash in advance and double the market price. Repatriate all non-US citizens back to the UK. And then buy one big billboard in Times Square giving the finger to Zero and his henchmen.

Exactly: and if BP - with all its expertise that was talked up last week - isn't going to be getting any credit for helping out, then they may as well pull itself back into a shell and await the inevitable. BP is willing to do everything it can IF they are allowed to survive -- but threatening the bosses will not engender good will or cooperation.
