The sinkhole is a result of rainwater saturating the ground after tropical storm Agatha. The image is not a photoshop-job (see other angles of the sinkhole below) despite looking as if a giant hole had been punched in the Earth.

I was wondering similar. The BP oil leak may be manmade; we should not lose track that there Is a lot of oil down there under high pressure, the Earth’s crust is not static, and at some point a natural rupture may occur with no hope of mankind stopping it. Just a thought.
Best Post of the Day! (BPD)
Back in the day they would simply wrap a virgin in gold jewelry and push her in. Made perfectly good sense to the people who invented the long count calendar.

....from day one!
Maybe it’s all the oil gushing into the gulf — I know they say that the oil is in between the rocks and such in the ground, but one wonders - with all that oil, exactly where does this supposed 2nd largest oil deposit extend to? Could it be the Earth equalizing pressure or something???
I’ve always wondered about that - although I know it’s a ‘theory’ not grounded in science... Just my mind’s wanderings! LOL
Thanks for that post! At least I know I’m not the only one that had this thought — although you and I are kind of joking... I think! LOL
lol you got that right
Good point! Hmmmmmmmmmm.......
Finally! A quick way to get into China.
Now that Obama turned BP’s hole into a crime scene, assuming control and prompting BP to suspend all efforts, we’ll know if that hole is connected if it turns into a gusher of lubricating oil and golf balls come high tide ~ fitting for The Most Slippery President Ever.
What a hoot that would be!
feet deep, too.
Last I saw that joke it was done Cajun Style ala Thibodeaux and Boudreaux.

Your post intrigued me. I looked at the globe on Google earth. I guessed that if you drilled through Guatamala, you would end up in the middle of the Indian Ocean between Africa and Australia.
Give or take a few thousands miles!
NUKE IT!!
I’m fixing a hole, where the rain gets in...
Oh. Oops. What kind of a turn would the sinkhole have to take to get to China? I really want to go to China.
The only way that the United States can get to China is through a catastrophic sinkhole. Uh... Oh heck.
Wish it were Photoshopped..they say now it’s 330 ft deep. It’s one of the scariest pictures I’ve seen in a long time.
