A small convoy of vehicles, in everything from old pick-up trucks to a stretch limo, with about thiry passengers total, left Victorville for the 130 mile trip to the site of the Mojave Cross, which vandals had torn down and stole a couple weeks ago, after the SCOTUS had ruled that it was not a religious symbol, but a war memorial, and that the box(!) civering it since the suit was filed several years ago.
When a replacement was erected, it was immediately taken down by rangers of the Mojave Preserve, contending that since it was not the original cross, it was not allowed.
A new cross now stands on the site, and although we know it, too will be removed. it was a gesture of our disgust the way this whole situation has been handled.
When we arrived at the location,we had expected a few people to be waiting....And we found that another like-minded group had already set up. They were as surprised at our arrival as we were to see more than 75 there already! We joined forces for a very moving memorial service, with two pastors, and several speakers. We even arranged for one of our locals to fly over and photograph the event! Yes, we have our own air force!
The location is very remote, six desert miles from Interstate 15 to the north, and I40 about 30 miles south.
Some of the participants drove over 300 miles to attend, from as far away as San Diego, San Fernando and Bakersfield.
Plans are in the works to use this site as a point to possibly have another...Or several, if needed to have the cross replaced permanently.
Photos and further information will be posted as soon as they are available.
Wear ‘em down. God speed.

Go PATRIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you. That’s a good work so be of good cheer.
Thanks for the post fantail
I thought the cross was on private property?
Prayers for your continued success.
BTW, the entire event was watched at a distance, by two rangers, one each about 3-400 yards north and south of the location.
What does matter is that that the Cross represents Christ and that symbolism sends those that hate freedom into a frothing rage.
You and your compadres are doing a good thing, keep it up.
I like that you have your own air force!
Two quick points. The supreme court clearly never intended that the ruling was specific to THAT specific cross, that it could never be repaired or replaced. This needs to be addressed legally,,,immediately with a lawsuit againt the rangers who removed the replacement.
The other point,,,it that we need to maintain a vigil there. The rangers need to be photographed removing it. We can use that as hard propaganda against them. Photos of rangers removing the cross can go viral and cause a lot of harm to their cause.
Have you contacted the county sheriff?
Charges need to be filed against the NPS fascists for trespass and theft.
Further, our current county sheriff is not inclined to take any controversial actions, as he was appointed and is running for election.... a purely political animal, so to speak. His name is Rod Hoops (should be hOOPS) That election takes place next week, and most of us in the constitutionalist (Lunatic?) fringe are backing Paul Schrader, a genuine conservative.
You might want to research the original language in the senate and house committees when the park was created. These hearings establish “orginal intent” in creating these national parks and have the force of law. If the flag is included in the park’s creation, you have at least one ruling for your side.
See Isle Royale Boaters Association v NPS.
“On June 6, 2001, U.S. District Court Judge Gordon J. Quist, issued an Opinion and Order which ruled against the Isle Royale Boaters Association and in favor of the National Park Service. Although Judge Quist ruled for the NPS, the Judge affirmed a major point of IRBA; namely, that the Senate Committee language of 1976 has the force of law.”
Sorry about your “appointed” sheriff. A good constitutional sheriff would’ve arrested the NPA thugs.
They might be a good organization to contact for support as they are keen on protecting historic sites in the desert.
Good luck,Godspeed to you all and keep hammerin’!
