What will it take for the MSM to stop smearing the falsely-accused Duke lacrosse players? Judging by the performance of ESPN's Steve Weissman this morning, legal exoneration is not enough.
Introducing an ESPNNEWS item on a lacrosse game between Duke and the University of Virginia, Weissman claimed that three years ago, the Duke team had been involved in "a devastating scandal," and that while the accused players had been exonerated, "the questions remain."

PING!
ESPN drives me crazy. I don’t know how they managed to gather so many goofy, liberal girlymen all at one network.
YOU win! :)
The only questions remaining are: why no jail time for accuser and DA???

Remember what your mother told you.
Don’t Pick aat that scab. You pick at it and will never heal.
At least one of the Duke Lacrosse player’s mother is, in Palin terminology, a momma grizzly. She encountered Nifong at some event or other [shortly after the charges had originally been filed], and very calmly said, “You’ve messed with the wrong family” - or words to that effect. I wouldn’t put it past her to go after Weissman. And rightly so. If he wants to smear innocent people, he’d better be prepared to face the consequences.

Today Reade Seligmann graduates from Brown University. He has been a success both at lacrosse and in the classroom, as well as in his charitable efforts. Duke’s loss was Brown’s gain. Now he is on to a new phase of his life.
I sent him an e-mail a few days ago congratulating him and asked him if and where he was going to law school. I also sent him best wishes on behalf of the Blog Hooligans.
I received the following e-mail back from him yesterday:
Quote:
Hi Sceptical,
It’s great to hear from you! I apologize for the delayed response,
we have been so busy with graduation up here at Brown. I actually just
flew up from Baltimore in the North /South All Star game where I got
to play against Colin for the first time since Duke. We had a ton of
fun and it was a great way to end our careers. As for me, I graduate
this weekend and I will still be heading to law school. I’ve gotten
into a few schools and I am still waiting to hear back from a few
others, including the schools where I was wait-listed. I’m excited to
officially begin my legal career this fall and my ultimate goal is
practice criminal law. I hope all is well with you and your family and
thanks again for the congratulatory wishes! Please send my best to all
of my friends at Liestoppers.
Best,
Reade

The only remaining questions are about the media's ethics and bias.
