I took a break from work, and watched the live feed for a minute. I either just saw the whole thing entirely blow out, or BP is implementing LMRP or hot tap right now.
Specifically, I saw a HUGE rain of white clumps and particles which are either foam-like objects used in a junk shot or methane hydrates.
Then all of the water within the camera view got very, very dark. When I looked more closely, I could make out the outline of massive jet-black plumes of oil rising from below the camera.
At least as of right now (6:00 pm Pacific Standard Time), if you look at the live video feed below, you can see what I mean.
This is either very, very bad, or BP has abandoned the top kill/junk shots altogether and is in the middle of surgery where it has already cut off sections of the BOP and/or riser, and is trying to cap it off with a sealing grommet.

Absolutely...freaking...agree.
Oh yeah of course they don’t want to rush it.
I mean seriously, why would you want to rush to stop a giant gapping hole from spilling millions of gallons of oil into the ocean...
BTW...I believe that wardaddy was speaking of NATURAL gas.
I don’t think I’ve ever knelt “down on any beach whatsoever and pick up tar balls im front of a frenzied sychophantic entourage media?”
In fact...no...I’ve never done that.
I do not know what that means. I’m going to guess that it means something bad; but other than that: I’m clueless.
what up?
wardaddy said, “I want what you smoke.”
I agree with wardaddy...but, other that that, you are a nice guy. ;o)
What?
Checking now Saturday, 6:45 AM EDT, and it looks like oil coming out now. Apparently didn’t work.
Yep.
Stopping this thing should not be a political issue.
I absolutely agree! That said, Bowrama made it a political issue. I've listened to the BP execs and they've said they have enlisted all help, including competitors, to get this thing stopped.
I want it stopped. Those Gulf beaches are beautiful. I’ve bought shrimp from the small stores near the boats in Biloxi. The beaches there and everywhere near there, Destin, for example, are a gift from God. Good stewards wouldn’t allow such a thing to go on for political oneupmanship or desire it to go on longer for the same reason.
That doesn’t mean I think the Obama Administration has done a good job since this began. Not even close. I think the lack of leadership is grossly negligent in the spill itself and in its containment. I also have no problem blaming Clinton and Bush past administrations for lack of preparedness and contingency procedures.
They, however, are not at all in charge of containment, and Jindal has been vehement about zero help being forthcoming from the Fed.
You forget the relief well they’re drilling right now.
And even if the successfully capped this thing, I’d think they’d want the relief well to continue pumping oil so as to reduce pressure on the cap and surrounding area.
The dispersant IS NOT TOXIC! It had to clear a FEW YEARS OF EPA studies to get "APPROVED!" You sound like MSNBC putting and adjective like "toxic" in your post.
As I posted on another thread:
I am DAMNED TIRED of news media "pundits" being experts on chemistry. I worked with these dispersants personally and these people DO NOT know what they are talking about. First of all, before you can put anything in the water, it has to clear EPA guidelines. (Just try getting through THAT barrier for a few YEARS!) You have to do about 1000 LD50's (guppy (not) kills) and a bunch of other stuff that really doesn't relate to SALT water. But you get through it. Then you try and put it in the water ... duh, need a permit for that ... guess how long that takes!
MSNBC did a hit job in their conversation 2 days ago about filling the gulf up with chemicals and killing everything. I wanted to SCREAM. For the layman ... the dispersant basically breaks up the oil from "globs" to VERY TINY gobules. (These are not the tar balls Obama was playing with on the beach... these are globules smaller than the head of a pin). These tiny balls therefore expose about 100 million times more than a glob of oil on the surface. By doing so, that much more of the oil's SURFACE AREA is exposed to the naturally oil-destroying bacteriae. This makes the "natural solution" (a solution which God himself probably put in place a few billion years ago) work.
Yes you are putting CHEMICALS in the water. (buzz word?) Water is a CHEMICAL, idiots! "Joe" said this would be worse than the oil itself. (I scream off screen). NO, the dispersants are THE BEST solution to helping the gulf recover.
If you look more deeply, the company I worked for, and one who spent $$$$$$$$$ and TIME on getting the EPA permits was recently told they were losing the contract ... to a company that could do it less expensively ... and while you're at it. Check their EPA test results for the "new" company ... you won't find them. Wouldn't surprise me that the chemicals are being "manufactured" in some warehouse on the South Side of Chicago.
Don’t know where I heard this but didn’t putie say the Russian’s used a nuke to stop blowouts like this all the time and it worked?
I truly believe they have a lot of “looped video” to play whenever something happens that they do not want us to see.
I say this because we continued seeing light colored “mud” coming out of the BOP all day Thurs, only to later find out they had stopped that procedure for SIXTEEN HOURS! And when they originally said they stopped for awhile, we were led to believe it was only for an hour or so.
They have been very vague and downright deceitful during this entire 38+ day ordeal.
I’m also believing they either CANNOT fix the thing or want to do what they can to save that well for future use! Sadly, I believe it is the first of the two. My heart breaks a little more each day I awake to find that it is still gushing.
And I’m wondering why GOD won’t answer the millions of prayers going up to him about this awful disaster unfolding.
Perhaps he is “done” with America!
We will know for sure if he allows a major hurricane to hit the gulf and spread this mess really good. I have to wonder how a hurricane would affect all of us. Would it suck up oil from the surface and bring it inland with the rain and dump it all over every state it moves through? If so, how will the oily, COREXIT rain affect the vegetation it lands on?
His ways are not our ways.
And voting doesn't work with Him.
