In reports that appear to have been missed in the flurry of reporting this afternoon on the Obama administration's release of a cursory report on its in-house investigation on the administration's attempted bribery of Rep. Joe Sestak, CNN's John King reported that a White House source told him Barack Obama was kept in the dark about the bribe attempt until "recent days."
Posting on Twitter around 1 p.m. EDT, King reported in three Tweets what his sources were telling him about the unfolding scandal:
WH Source: prez didnt know about rahm/clinton/sestak talks until recent days; GOP pressing for more details.
WH memo lacks important details. Source says COS Emanuel did not check with counsel office before enlisting Clinton. #sestak
Svl other WH aides knew of Emanuel/Clinton effort. WH memo doesn't mention. #sestak
King has not posted to his Twitter account since posting these three reports.
Is someone in the White House trying to create a case for Obama's innocence in the Sestak scandal? It sure looks that way. It's not credible, but it shows an acknowledgement by some in the Obama administration that Obama himself could be in serious trouble if he is found to have been involved in the Sestak bribe attempt.
This is looking more like the Watergate cover-up with each passing hour. (And we know how that ended.)
So, the progressive left thinks they're going to throw Rahm and Bill under the bus?
Somebody needs to put Sestak under oath, then follow the trail.
Rahm and Bill will not go to jail to protect Obama.
My first thought was Clinton just opened the door to the negotiations.......and rahm is guilty as sin. showerBoy is up to his scrawny little neck in this....thus he managed to hide out in Israel when the scandal broke.
‘prez didnt know about rahm/clinton/sestak talks until recent days; ‘
I believe that. I sure do. The smartest president EVER didn’t know nuthin.
The next step should be asking Gibbs during the next presser if he can state as fact there were no phone calls or emails to Sestak (or his brother, the lawyer) from the Oval Office or the office of any other WHite House Official.
Who will be the next Deep Throat?
Clinton loves the drama and he is an accomplished wordsmith and liar. Hillary is the SoS and that doesn’t bode well at all. Clinton should have kept his nose out of it.
That’s why I tend to agree with Newt; that Clinton’s story is a diversion.
The red meat phone call came after Clinton’s.
Put Sestak under oath and ask him about the other phone calls.
He’s the weak link.
Will that cover the situation in the Gulf too?
Or will that require a PDD (petroleum distraction directive).
Yes!
WHO will be the next Deep Throat?
Snort. This isn’t the Joe Sestak I knew. Does he not realize what a moron he is quickly beginning to look like?
Even more reason to get control in 2010. In January the new Congress can subpoena Sestak and place him under oath. DOJ and this Congress will continue to stonewall.
Sestak will not lie to protect Zero or Clintoon.
Maybe it’s time for Rahm to take one for the boss. If it gets hot enough I’m sure he would do it, except for that pesky matter of the law.
Was a crime committed? I don’t know, but if there was a criminal violation it changes everything.
Independent Counsel anyone?
From your lips to God's ears, Mr. Taylor.
Is there a statute of limitations on any of this?
Maybe we know now why Greg Craig resigned. He was Billy’s attorney...
Truth to tell, that headline has exactly 7 too many words in it.
Making a statement to the FBI or a grand fjury would accomplish the same thing. Wonder if the PA attorney general will get involved.
Well, when we are talking about Spector, it may only be a crime under Scottish law. What I noticed is that the “source” is admitting that this was a bribe.
That’s a good question. Not an expert on Federal law but I’d suspect it would be more than one year. I have heard it’s a felony but haven’t researched it myself.
