Reporting from Houma, La. Engineers have succeeded in stopping the flow of oil and gas into the Gulf of Mexico from a gushing BP well, the federal government's top oil spill commander, U.S. Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, said Thursday morning.

Oh please. If you think having W under the towering mission accomplished sign for his BIG speech was “accidental”, then you are simply foolish.
All the aircraft carriers and all bases had this huge sign up as well, right? IT’s just that there were no pictures taken of them *rolls eyes*
What was that old routine about the steps of a project. All I remember is the last two,
“Punishment of the innocent” and “Praise and awards for the non-participants”.
Yup.
1 - Wild enthusiasm
2 - Panic
3 - ?
4 - ?
5 and 6 are the ones you mentioned.
Also, do you remember the block diagram/process flow with the one in the middle saying “and then a miracle occurs”? I think we’re very near that point.
Methinks thou art full of crap.
Keeping on believe in “coincidences”. Please show me that banner on any other ship in the fleet, or any other military base that W didn’t visit that day.
Coincidence - bullflop.
“Mission Accomplished” is the traditional Navy report given at the end of a ship’s assignment at sea......and the successful completion of their orders.....you can bet that every ship in the Navy gives this same traditional report when they return from sea.......
The MSM and the Dems have tried to build this into something it was not......all part of their BDS....
I see you have drank their green cool ade......
The men and women of our Armed Forces were very fond of GWB. You’ll be hard pressed to see Obama in any uncontrolled situation with any of our Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen, Marines, or Coasties......
You will simply have to wait until next Tuesday for that to happen.
I’m not contesting what you are saying about the phrase “Mission Accomplished”, what I am contesting is the fact it coincidentally appeared on a sign 100 feet wide while the president was there to give a speech.
You fighting this, AND your assumptions about me show that you can not take ANY criticism.
Simple logic dictates the coincidence claims to be correct, as long as other examples of 100 foot signs at locations other than this carrier can be produced. I’ve not seen any, nor have I heard anyone ever claim that there were.
Of course W was liked by the military, unlike Obama. That has no bearing in this conversation.
I’m not a lefty. I lean more to the conservative side, but I can also call a spade a spade.
Based on this conversation, I’m guessing you see nothing wrong with PA Attorney General Tom Corbett’s recent subpoena.
“....what I am contesting is the fact it coincidentally appeared on a sign 100 feet wide while the president was there to give a speech.”
So what! The left has tried to turn this into an instance of Bush declaring a premature victory in the WOT.... something neither he, nor the Navy tried to do given the historical context and tradional/current use of the phrase “Mission Accomplished.” By the way signs like “Mission Accomplished” are commonly kept on hand for display on capital ships like Carriers when returning to their home ports. Educate yourself.
“You fighting this, AND your assumptions about me show that you can not take ANY criticism.”
Repeating DNC/MSM/lefty talking points will garner no respect from me. Try thinking on your own for a change. “Fighting this?” I guess to your mind people should just accept your ideas as being without error, and without comment. I don’t recall your critizing me in the original post, so how can you claim I cannot take “....ANY criticism?” The criticism has come from me to you.....projection?
“Simple logic dictates the coincidence claims to be correct, as long as other examples of 100 foot signs at locations other than this carrier can be produced. Ive not seen any, nor have I heard anyone ever claim that there were.”
You need to get out more.... examples abound on US Naval ports/ships throughtout the Nation. Look harder, you’ll have to put down your cool-ade glass first.....ask any navy vet.....
“Of course W was liked by the military, unlike Obama. That has no bearing in this conversation.”
Yes it does. The Navy was proclaiming it’s pride in accomplishing it’s assigned task to a popular visiting CIC. Both you and the left have taken exception to this display of it’s traditional expression of that pride, and tried to turn it into something it was not...through either ignorance, or just plain nasty partisan politics.....
“Im not a lefty. I lean more to the conservative side, but I can also call a spade a spade.”
I’m sure that you lean whichever way the wind blows..... Try thinking for yourself sometime instead of repeating lefty talking points on a Conservative forum.... You may want to aquaint yourself with the Traditions of the Naval Services. Calling anything a “spade” nowadays will get you labeled a “racist,” but what you actually did was call a trowel... a shovel......and I’m calling you on it.
“.......Im guessing you see nothing wrong with PA Attorney General Tom Corbetts recent subpoena.”
I guess when you have a losing argument, its best to change the topic...... stay on point.......
refresh my memory on what I wrote that was so offensive to someone?
Good lord...so now it is against FR policy to say FAG?
Good lord amighty.
I will stay on point. It was no coincidence. And please, show me another 100 foot wide sign on another ship without the president on it that read “Mission Accomplished”. Heck, show me another carrier sporting a 100 foot sign that is not the ships name and motto.
You can not, and that is why I do not believe it to be a coincidence that both the sign and W appear together for the photo op.
You will have to supply proof to get me to change my opinion. And quite frankly, you have not given a logical argument to suggest otherwise. I just scanned through a couple hundred photos of Carriers returning to port. Lots of sailors lining the deck, not a single one with a sign other than the name of the ship. So I’m inclined to think the coincidence is even less likely.
Please continue your unquestioning devotion. Sorry, I don’t check my cognitive reasoning skills at the door.
A Navy ship with a sign saying “Mission Accomplished”? SO WHAT! Its the Traditional Report given by a Naval Command to it’s upstream Chain of Command, including the Commander in Chief.....Why you, and the left, have your panties in a bunch over this is beyond me.....oh yeah, I forgot....a terminal case of BDS...... I meaqn it’s not like we’re trying to give Bush a Noble Peace Prize for doing nothing.........
You keep saying the sign was “100’ long” which is pure hyperbole on your part. The banner was hung on the forward edge of the conning tower and is about 26-30’ long x 4-5’ wide. Conning towers are less than 40’ wide because any wider would encroach on the width of the flight deck which is at a premium for flight operations anyway, besides a greater width is not needed for the watch to con the ship, and is an aerodynamic impediment to forward speed ....
Photos of Naval ships on the internet are often their official photo from the Naval Photo Archives...search there all you want.....you’ll never see any sign or banner on them, doesn’t prove, or disprove a thing....... why don’t you run yourself down to a naval home port and greet a Carrier returning home from a war cruise and then tell me what you see....you’ll also have the pleasure of meeting our heros firsthand, and have the pleasure of thanking them firsthand as a side benefit......
The Dems/MSM seeing Bush’s popularity among the troops/sailors, his image as a fighter pilot, and the success of the armed forces in defeating the murderous Iraqi regime in record time, and with minimal combat losses despite the Dems dire predictions of huge combat losses, and their hopes for military setbacks, sought to deny both Bush’s and the military, a celebration of the end of major military operations in Iraq.
To this end they chose to spin the term “Mission Accomplished” to the generally unknowlegible John Q Public to mean that Bush was prematurely declaring total victory in, not only Iraq, but also the War on Terror. Neither Bush nor the Navy ever made that claim.....
That you choose to accept their spin without question is quite telling as to your thought process, and forms the basis for my calling you a cool-ade drinker....SengirV has a green mustache, SengirV has a green mustache....
That I do not accept this, or any other Democrat spin is, in your mind, “unquestioning devotion” which in this context, a label I will proudly wear!
Me change your mind? Not possible....cool-ade has reportedly had that effect on its users.....
News flash....Optical Rectitus is treatable if detected early .

He’s concerned with fictional environmental crises but is slow to react a very real and major one.
Whether terrorists did this or it’s just an accident they must be loving it.
The media now knows that Obama is an empty suit. So do the tree huggers. Let’s see if it makes any difference at all.
Never
You NAILED it on every level....including the damage done by Obama’s drooling leftist environmentalist wacko cabinet.
