Reporting from Houma, La. Engineers have succeeded in stopping the flow of oil and gas into the Gulf of Mexico from a gushing BP well, the federal government's top oil spill commander, U.S. Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, said Thursday morning.

“The USA should be using coal and natural gas more. “

It seems we are. They have pratically turned Wyoming into one big natural gas well and the coal fields here in Colorado are extremely busy. Those coal trains run non-stop.

“Yes, exactly! We noticed that too. Either he increased his meds for his own high BP, or was on some other sort of relaxant, but he totally tuned it down. But Bobby Jindal was on today, and he’s still not saying things like, “I know we have a really, really smart president” [like James Carville also changed his tune and was spouting same time as fat Billy]. But Republican Representative Steve Scalise from LA is still plenty hot. They just showed some live coverage of him, and he’s smokin’.”

Hopefully, others will comment on this. I think the white house realized that “Billy” and for that matter Carville might say anything. Their passion was making great TV and could really hurt Zero. Fat Billy could have been the face of this disaster an Zero’s inaction. Rham must have pulled him aside, promised him millions in taxpayer bailout cash to tone it down.

OK, that part is true. I thought you were talking just about BPs timing of the fix. Yeah, Obama sat on it. He may have done it to advance an agenda, but I know a lot of greenies that HATE him now. He has lost a lot of support from his base.

The whole process was a logistical and engineering nightmare. Don't forget that the rig exploded and fell on top of the blowout well and all of that had to be moved before anything could happen.
Frankly the fact they were able to try this procedure and have any success is amazing. Next thing is to go on and drill a relief well to take the pressure off.
The arrogant Obama and U.S. Government were bluffing when they threatened to take over since they have no expertise and no equipment to do the job, they would have to rely on the same private sector experts, etc. as BP and the result of the Government oversight would have been a unmitigated disaster!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could not they run a smaller diameter string down around 8,000’ or so and start there?

“It’s not that he didn’t help stop the leak, it is that he and his administration did NOTHING to contain the spill, ignored Gov.Jindal requests, didn’t send the NAVY that has clean up operations,”

BINGO!! We should have had tankers out there sucking that spill up 30 days ago! The media will run interference for Bambi now and he will arrive tomorrow like he solved the problem.

IF THIS TOP KILL REALLY WORKED....THEN IT BEGS THE QUESTION..WHY WASN’T IT TRIED 30 DAYS AGO?

THIS ADMINISTRATION HAS SCREWED THIS UP FROM DAY ONE!

(sorry for shouting...just pissed off at the utter incompetence of Obama and his administration)

Fox News reporting that the WH is saying that it might not be solved yet. They are dialing it back now, but why? Do they want the announcement of a successful plugging to coincide with Obama’s presser today or his visit tomorrow? Inquiring minds want to know. (eye roll)

BP and friends in the business have literally moved mountains to get this done and Obozo hasn’t done a thing! Nothing!

The federal government did not even have equipment required by their own spill plan on hand when this occurred!

And, you can bet Zero will take all the credit for stopping the leak.

I guess what is confusing me is - wouldn’t the mud immediately start falling to the sea bed, after being jetted out of the bop and riser, since it is much heavier than water? The stuff coming out is going up, up, up...making me think it is lighter than water.

The WH is playing politics again. They want to be the ones to announce the success at Bambi’s presser today or his visit tomorrow. They will keep us on pins and needles until then....mark my word. Obama wants to announce it so he can try to take credit.

Meanwhile millions of gallons of oil are washing up on shore, sinking to the bottom of the sea and killing everything in sight and Bambi has done nothing to mitigate the disaster! Zip..ZERO..NADA!!

But... he said “plug the damn hole”
and it’s now plugged.

What do you mean he’s done nothing?

They would have to get the damaged riser out of the way and sting back into the BOP with a drill ship. I suppose it is a possibility but I haven’t heard it discussed. Because of the weight of cement compared to the mud/oil mixture, buoyancy will allow it to sink before it starts to set up.

Don't forget that the rig exploded and fell on top of the blowout well and all of that had to be moved before anything could happen.

This is not correct. The rig is some distance off from the wellhead. Nothing that floats sinks straight down in 5,000ft of water.

Under pressure it will go up until the velocity/weight allows it to settle back down assuming it is all heavier than water.

Obama Will Take Credit for Whatever Finally Stops the Leak
May 26, 2010
http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_052610/content/01125110.member.html

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: We showed you earlier and we played the sound bite earlier where the Coast Guard has approved of BP’s idea for a Top Kill method to plug the oil leak. Basically you lower a pipe down to the well where the leak is and you fill that hole with mud and sludge and all kinds of stuff to plug it. The Coast Guard has approved BP’s idea and we said at the time, “Why does the Coast Guard have to approve it?” Okay. That’s that.

Here’s Obama today in Fremont, California, where union workers, nonunion workers were told to stay home for security reasons. He’s at a solar panel manufacturer. Here is a portion of what he said.

OBAMA: Earlier today I spoke to Energy Secretary Steven Chu who, as you know, is a Nobel Prize winning physicist. And he’s been on the scene in the Gulf deeply involved in our efforts to bring this crisis to an end. And we discussed today’s attempt to stop the leak. If it’s successful, and there’s no guarantees, it should greatly reduce or eliminate the flow of oil now streaming into the Gulf from the sea floor.

RUSH: Did I not tell you that Obama would take credit for this if it works? He’s already taking credit for the idea. (imitating Obama) “Earlier today I spoke to the Energy Secretary, Steven Chu, Nobel Prize winning physicist. He’s been on the scene there deeply involved in our efforts. We discussed today’s attempt to stop the leak,” as though it’s his idea, as though it’s Chu’s idea. It is BP’s idea. They had to get the approval of the Coast Guard to do it. Obama continued.

OBAMA: My administration’s intensively engaged with scientists and engineers to explore all alternative options, and we’re gonna bring every resource necessary to put a stop to this thing. A lot of damage has been done already. Livelihoods destroyed, landscapes scarred, wildlife affected, lives have been lost. Our thoughts and prayers are very much with the people along the Gulf Coast. Let me reiterate, we will not rest until this well is shut and the clean-up is complete.

RUSH: Well, all of a sudden David “Rodman” Gergen says he’s gotta care, and he’s acting like he cares now. (imitating Obama) “A lot of damage has been done already, livelihoods have been destroyed, landscapes scarred, wildlife affected, lives have been lost. And, by the way, we’re gonna work on this, and our thoughts and prayers are very much with the people along the Gulf Coast.” He wasn’t through. He said this.

OBAMA: I look forward to returning there on Friday to review the efforts underway and lend my support to the region. Even as we are dealing with this immediate crisis we’ve gotta remember that the risks our current dependence on oil holds for our environmental and our coastal communities is not the only costs involved in our dependence on these fossil fuels. Around the world, from China to Germany, our competitors are waging a historic effort to lead in developing new energy technologies. There are factories like this being built in China, factories like this being built in Germany.

RUSH: Never let a crisis go to waste. So here, after trying to sound like he cares about all the loss of life and marine life, all the wildlife, the landscape scarred, thoughts and prayers, he’s got to say this is why we’ve got to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels around the world, China to Germany, our competitors are waging an historic effort to lead and develop new energy. Never let a crisis go to waste. This was the real point of the remark. Where is he saying this? At a solar panel manufacturing plant. So the real reason for going out there is to take advantage of this disaster, to move forward on an idea that has literally no chance of coming anywhere near replacing what oil provides.

The White House is now saying that reports of success are premature, as if they were suddenly the experts. If this is indeed successful, look for the slimeball Obama try to take credit for the successful stoppage while pushing the blame for the spill onto BP. No mention will be made of the free pass Obama gave BP on inspections before the explosion.
