I remember when I was a little kid he had a show called “House Party”. And what I remember about that was that they put some household item in the doll house and contestants had to guess what it was. I thought that was so neat.

Just looked it up on Wiki. Ran till 1967.

I saw him on an interview show last year and he looked great and no where near his age. So sad to lose someone of his kind. I loved his Kids Say The Darndest Things segments on the reruns.

Didn’t he also Patent the Hula Hoop as well as the Wheel Barrow?

I memories of this is from the mid Sixties so I could easily be mistaken.

“Queen For a Day” was another thing he hosted (I think)

TT

I remember seeing his act a long time ago up at Tommy Bartlett’s Water Ski Show in Wisconsin Dells when I was just a little kid.

Very funny act, although their was one risque part where Art dropped a ball down some lady’s dress and tried to catch it with his teeth. Caused quite a few gasps.

RIP, Mr. Linkletter.

If I had to spend a the day home and miss school because I was not feeling well I’d make sure I was much better by the time House Party came on in the afternoon. Funny how “family shows” aired during the daytime then. I imagine that’s because many mom’s were at home.

Art Linkletter was a CPAC fixture for years. At my very first CPAC, I came around a corner in the exhibit hall and literally ran into Mr. Linkletter. He was jovial and gracious. A good conservative gentleman.

Well, he said he wanted to die before the death tax came back. And he did. Good for him!

Interesting. I can’t say I’ve ever seen anything drawn by Schulz that wasn’t Peanuts.

A lot of people claimed to be friends of Reagan.

Art was.

He was friends with Nixon too (even though Art was more conservative). Art was tormented by Nixon failing to appear likeable on television when in person Nixon could be very impressive, intelligent, and friendly.

I saw an interview with the long-time host of Univision’s SABADO GIGANTE. He said that most of the Spanish language MCs and TV hosts when he started out were very stiff and formal. Art Linkletter was a huge influence and he copied his relaxed comfortable style and achieved great success with it in the Spanish-speaking world.
