A fence would be difficult to manage. Use landmines instead. It’s kept North Korea out of South Korea.

Why of course. And they get an extra big medal if they die during the hostilities. Everyone hopes for one of those... /s

The question is will they be used to enforce border security by capturing and detaining anyone who illegally crosses the border?

No.

Giffords also says in a statement Tuesday that President Barack Obama will request $500 million in funding for border security.

Why don't I believe this?

An administration official confirmed to Fox News that Obama plans to request $500 million for “enhanced border protection and law enforcement” and deploy the National Guard troops as needed.

The official said the National Guard would be used to “provide intelligence; surveillance and reconnaissance support; intelligence analysis; immediate support to counternarcotics enforcement; and training capacity until Customs and Border Patrol can recruit and train additional officers and agents to serve on the border.”

Probably sent with orders to get the goods on those wicked AZ leo’s.

My sentiments also. Build the fence that was approved to be built.

What a waste of manpower. They (National Guard) aren’t allowed to do anything. It’s a farce.

With all the recent college grads are going to be unemployed send them to the border.

And make sure they are told these are the people taking the jobs they won't do.

I went to a National Guard MOS school in Texas. From my observations the Texas National Guard, with some exceptions (like their awesome state competetive shooting team) is the “Army Mexicanos Del Norte.”

What they’ll get is a bunch of “Guard Bum” volunteers to dress up in camo and drive around with a radio, no authority, little training, and no ammunition.

BTW, before you start ripping me on the term “Guard Bum” I retired from the NG with 21 years of service (including 4.5 yrs active duty) A “Guard Bum” is someone that goes from one short term set of orders to another so he/she can make more than unemployment pays without having to find a full time job. Every unit has them, and everyone that’s been in the guard knows who I’m talking about.

This is a pre-text to an Amnesty push before November unless I miss my guess. They need to cram Amnesty, Cap and Trade, and Fin Reg before we get a crack at em in the election.

An electric fence could work. Zap the illegals with enough amps to fly them back to wherever.

Land mines might blow up legitimate Americans. Don’t forget which side of the border they would have to be planted on.

Obama needs to defuse this issue before the elections. Asking for some money for border enforcement and sending a few hundred unarmed Guards to stand around and look good is a way to be seen to “do something” without actually doing anything. But it’s good politics.

Funny as hell...I can't believe nobody else commented on your post.

I like one of the comments on that webpage: "Why don't we bring all our troops home and invade Mexico? They have vast oil and mineral reserves."

LOL!

I like the idea of hiring cheap Mexican labor, but they can only work on the southern side of the barrier.

We'll toss their last paychecks over the fence to them.

These appear to be headed for AZ. What about the other border states?

I know Gov. Perry has made numerous requests.

You can tunnel under a fence. There are already some big tunnels that they have dug and drive trucks through to avoid border inspections.

But tunneling under landmines is a bit more hazardous.
