President Barack Obama and family are heading home for the Memorial Day holiday, and though the schedule is still sketchy, he's confirmed to attend ceremonies at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in far south suburban Elwood.
Mr. Obama, First Lady Michelle, and children Malia and Sasha will arrive in Chicago on Thursday, according to a White House Press release. What they'll be doing between then and Monday has yet to be released but they will be staying at their home in Hyde Park.

If I recall correctly, Obama confused the meaning of Memorial Day with Veterans day in his remarks.
President Bush went to Arlington Cemetery every Memorial Day except for 2002. That year, he went to Normandy Beach for Memorial Day.

I'm not sure, but its pretty certain that not all Presidents attended Arlington every year. I am reading he will be attending a Chicago area Memorial instead on Monday. Calmer heads should prevail here on FR. Some are still posting the “He'll be with Paul McCartney” rumor even though that is being debunked. That being said - We are at War, and I thing any President during a time of war should out of respect for those dying on the battlefield attend Arlington. Be it Bush or Obama.
