A new KPIX-TV CBS 5 poll of likely Republican primary voters finds that Carly Fiorina has shot to the top of the nomination race for U.S. Senate, and Meg Whitman has retaken a huge lead in the gubernatorial race, as well.
But the latest poll, released Monday, shows Whitman recapturing the lead by 27 points with a 54%-27% advantage over Poizner -- a wild swing of 25 points in less than two weeks.
The poll numbers for the Senate race show Fiorina with 46%, former Congressman Tom Campbell at 23%, and Chuck DeVore at 14%. This represents a 34-point net gain for Fiorina since the last CBS 5 poll released on May 11, which had Campbell leading.

... which was a Democrat.
Of course, but it is the RINOS that give cover for the Democrats to drift further and further left by defining political deviancy up instead of down.
In 2006, we had Mark Foley and Jack Abramoff to deal with if I'm not mistaken. In 2008, I saw a slew of RINOS and a crazed libertarian running for president.
Tancredo was a one issue politician and not very good with that issue. Hunter, although a good man, has about as much charisma as Dukakis. Thompson could have done well against Obama but I don't think his heart was really in it.
That only left Captain Queeg.
My problem with Whiteman is that for 28 years she didn’t vote. PERIOD! During that time she took a pass on voting for Reagan twice, Bush I twice, Dole, and Bush II twice.
She didn’t vote to oust our three Supreme Court justices at the state level when you and I did. She didn’t vote for Proposition 13, Proposition 187, or any of a myriad of issues that were very important. With our state going into the toilet, she didn’t even bother to vote in the 2003 recall election. She just didn’t think it was worth her time to register and do her civic duty.
During this period she did take time to donate money to Liberals. Most recently she signed on to become the finance chairman for McCain’s Presidential election bid. Anotherwords, after coming out of the political lock box after decades, she chose the most liberal Republican to do it for.
Look at MeCain’s record I’ve posted here a number of times. Is that something you can sign on to? Meg Whitman did. And this is all Meg has to go on besides claiming she managed an auction web site successfully. IMO, there was a vacuum in this area and Meg was lucky it took off like it did. I do not give her special credit for having the technical, creative, or even managerial savvy to be able to take the credit for this. She walked into a gift position, and things fell in place for her. Now if we’re to take her at her word, she’s the only reason E-Bay was successful. It was her gifted leadership that caused E-Bay to prosper. I’m not buying into that. I think the company would have done just fine with about any nitwit in there.
She has no political experience whatsoever. She has no record of any kind. She’s a blank slate just like Schwarzenegger was. He was going to fix things too.
Meg can go fly a kite as far as I am concerned. She’s a nitwit with a pocket book, and that’s about it.
As for me being afraid of Jerry Brown, let me tell you something. If Jerry screws up, at least the other side will take the blame. If Meg screws the pooch, she’ll have joined Schwarzenegger to give us about 11 years of shi—y governance at the hand of Republicans. I know of no better way to make sure no Republican gets elected for that position for another thirty years.
There’s no way I want to buy into that. Give me a known Conservative or get out of my face. (not you particularly), but the people who keep drudging up these drones that prevent us from getting a real good team we can vote for.
Tell hell with this repeat performance.
Good points.
In 2008, I saw a slew of RINOS and a crazed libertarian running for president.
I called them front runners...the RINOs anyways. They raised millions of dollars and polled well. Not like Tanc or Hunter.
Tancredo was a one issue politician and not very good with that issue. Hunter, although a good man, has about as much charisma as Dukakis.
Despite those flaws I thought Hunter and Tancredo did exceptionally poorly when conventional wisdom around here was the GOP's watered down message was the problem.
Thompson could have done well against Obama but I don't think his heart was really in it.
You are right. Thompson entered the race to siphon conservative votes from the Huckster and help his good buddy John McCain win the nomination. Thompson was my guy too. Can't believe I didn't see it at the time.
I think it is possible the amazingly inept campaign run by Dr Keyes in 2006,
or complete slobbering Obama adulation of the media,
or abject disgust for war hero McCain by Rush, Hannity, and Savage (Perhaps the real, and unelected conservative leadership) until the nomination was won...
might have had something to do with the election of Osama in 2008 despite McCain's inspired choice of Palin for VP.
Where are the elected conservatives of stature to run against 0 in 2012. I like Palin but I don't know if she wants it. If we look at our farm team of US Senators, only 15 GOP senators voted against the wall street bailout. 4 have lost, quit, or will quit in 2010. And that is just one issue. Add earmarks, excessive govenment spending, amnesty, and personal misconduct and there are probably a half dozen US Senators that most Freepers could agree on as a solid conservative. Take out age and health issues and there are maybe 3 viable Presidental candidates out of the bunch. Out of those candidates maybe only one of them wants the job.
If conservatism is so popular why do so few conservatives hold state wide seats like Senator, or Governor outside of states like AL KS MS OK and WY?
I find that strange.
OK, but I wish there was a primary alternative and no the hobson’s choice of a liberal or a RINO. Jerry brown will kill what’s left of cali.
