Judge Ignores Father’s Plea, Child Dies
The Spearhead ^ | May 24, 2010 | Welmer

Posted on 05/24/2010 2:27:36 PM PDT by Christian Cage

Little Ethan Stacy’s life was torn apart by a divorce in which his mother had run off to Utah to be with Nathan Sloop, a man who has allegedly murdered the boy. His mother, Stephanie Stacy, was described by Joe G. Stacy, the boy’s father, as “unstable” and likely to disappear with the child.

Last November, Mr. Stacy informed the court of his fears, but judge Maura T. Smith claims never to have read the filing. Mr. Stacy also said that Ethan had expressed reservations about leaving to visit his mother in Utah.

Nevertheless, Mr. Stacy complied with the court order and sent Ethan to stay with his mother in Utah, upon which Mr. Sloop immediately began abusing the boy, locking him in his room and beating him about the face and head. Soon, Ethan began suffering from symptoms of a brain injury, but despite his grave condition Mr. Sloop continued and escalated the abuse.

When the boy’s mother and her boyfriend went to get married, Ethan was locked in a room in which the doorknob had been removed because his mother and her boyfriend didn’t want anyone to see him in his battered condition.

During this time Joe Stacy tried to call his son on a daily basis, but the boy’s mother made up excuses as to why he could not speak with the boy. Finally, on Mother’s Day, Stephanie found the little boy dead in his bed, upon which she and her new husband drove his corpse up to a mountain, where Nathan Sloop took a hammer to the child’s face in an attempt to render him unidentifiable.

After Stephanie reported her son missing the next day, police began to search for him, and in the meanwhile her story fell apart under questioning, and the tragedy was revealed.

Horrific story. An example of the problems with the family court system.

There’s a special place in hell reserved for cretins like judge smith and the family courts...

I’m surprised Obama hasn’t nominated this judge for the federal bench. She fits right in with WH characters in that she doesn’t read filings before making judgments.

That is not very PC...

You should not blame this poor man for making a baby with a horrible, insane person. He had no choice...

A summary execution for Sloop and Stacy would be appropriate here. As far as the judge is concerned, it sounds as if it is just another Progressive appointee showing their distain for common sense.

In clear cut cases where judges endanger kids, they should face the death penalty - the same fate of the child they condemned.

Maybe punishment for this judge who ignored all the warnings and WTF didn’t read the filing and ruled anyway should be applied.

Pure, undiluted evil straight from the devil himself.

Be careful where you plant your seed.

True enough.

However, when the rubber meets the road, an innocent young boy who had no choice in the matter is dead; regardless of whatever you feel that the dad had coming to him by impregnating a crazy woman.

I don't have any source information, but I recall a study some years back that showed fathers being significantly more capable as single parents than mothers. Fathers more readily produced young adults ready to enter society. Mothers tended to produce woosified males and wacko females - basically they produced liberals. Small wonder the courts do as they do.

Be careful where you spew your stupidity.

Nothing in any media account so far indicates the wife appeared unstable before she ran off with her beau.

Often evil is hidden.

Stupidity too, but stupid reveals itself more often than evil.

“An example of the problems with the family court system.”

And another example of that maddening practice of the court which assumes the birth father is the bad guy and it’s the mother that is needed to properly nurture the child. They fail to consider the possibly that the mother can be evil. Poor child.

No one is dancing for joy that the father got his comeupance by the death of his son. But sometimes the obvious and not so PC, needs to be said.

The truth is one must be careful where one plants his seed and who one lets plant in her fertile ground. Because stories have gone both ways. With women crying how awful the men they chose to have children with, actually are.

We all have choices and although I can’t even imagine the horror this dad is living through, we can learn a lesson from his pain. And the pain of that innocent child. At least he opened his eyes to see the loving arms of Jesus welcoming him home.

When the mother refused to let the kid come to the phone..after the second day..I would have called CPS in Utah and been on a plane there.

Be careful where you spew your venom.

Actions have consequences. Bad actions have bad consequences. Most of the time these bad characteristics are obvious to everyone but the hormone besotted spouses to be. It’s a good argument for arranged marriages, not that I favor them, but it’s one reason Jews had matchmakers.

This attitude of judges is the rule not the exception.

This judge should be investigated immediatly. If this was an attorney there would be far far more done against the attorney.

It’s an unusually bad story - but the problem with any court regulating what should be the obligation of parents to their children or the obligation of spouses to each other is that the best possible judicial intervention into family matters is a very, very distant second best.
