""This video was shot by the local parish government in South Pass. When we [CBS] tried to reach the beach covered in oil, a boat with BP contractors with two Coast Guard officers on board told us to turn around under threat of arrest.
"This is BP's rules, not ours."
We spoke to Coast Guard officials today. They say that they are looking into it.""

Obama is a lesson on how far you can fool all of the people some of the time.
But one has to remember that they only want a looooong story if a republican is involved....
Bravo! Your post is perfect!
Good point.
I doubt it’s about filming. The BP surface ships have to act with coordination and don’t want to have to navigate about hundreds of journalists (which is what you would get if you let one in).
Also: some of those journalists smoke. In some parts of the spill area, that could be dangerous.
Please! What the HELL are you smokin'?
Yeah, intelligent. Of course the untold hundreds of millions of dollars in small donations from Europe sent by people with names like "Mickey Mouse and Pluto" and the involvement of Soros and his billions along with the total complicity of the media had NOTHING to do with his getting elected...right. Take a hike pal, you're either blind or stupid and have no business here. You simply do not meet the minimum requirement for intelligence.
IMO- that plotting was by the liberal left (and the liberal right), who thought it would be "cute" to have one of them in the WH. I don't believe for one moment that obama planned and accomplished it by himself. He was a nothing as a senator, and now he amounts to nothing more than a sock-puppet.
The GOP also could have provided a better selection of candidates for 2008 than they did.
You are getting caught up in the wrong issues to focus on.
What matters are the following:
What: the rules. Who - who makes the rules: BP or the CG? It is unfathomable that BP could think that in any situation that they (a private business) can tell citizens what they can and cannot do. They don’t get to run the Gulf. That is what people should focus on here - that BP thinks that it can make rules. Nope, doesn’t work that way.
BP doesn’t get to say squat about what the rules are. The CG does that. The CG, though, let it slip who the boss was down there.
The CG did not say that THEY didn’t want lots of journalists in there. The CG said that BP said that they couldn’t come in and that they (BP) were the ones making the rules.
There have been mnany times where there have been oil spills in the US. A past Gulf oil leak where around 150 million barrels got out occured, the Valdez occured and so on. There were tons of journalists that covered those and all the journalists didn’t cause a meltdown then and they wouldn’t cause one now, either.
Journalists smoked then, too. They didn’t catch themselves on fire and they didn’t burn up the area where they smoked, either.
Don’t give Obama any BP and the CG any bogus excuses.
BP apparently wants embedded reporters/journalists. That way, they will report the “official” story.
Don’t fall for their spin...
and yet an incident commander controls the scene of the incident.
it is probably not a good practice to allow news crews to go and play in the oil spill.
cause when they come down sick (for any reason), they are going to be suing BP and the US for allowing them to go and play in the oil.
“... but nobody told us we shouldn’t eat the oil”
hmmm,
perhaps we should let them go and play in the oil. the tickets to the lawsuit might be worth the show.
“... if the oil ain’t slick, you gotta acquit”
That is what I’ve been saying for days!
My hair started standing on the back of my neck when I realized that the MSM, first all lathered up over this, suddenly backed off the story! THAT told me that it is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY BAD and makes “the WON” look bad.
I have YET to see any new photos on any of the news websites. All the photos appear to be from a week ago (or older)
Looks like Jindal is going to act regardless to protect what the state can...I do not blame him and certainly he has the right as the Governor...especially since the problem continues with seemingly no resolution in sight.
The theory that Obama’s meteoric rise was attributable to some devious behind-the-scenes scheming of the Democratic/leftist machine, would be plausible if it weren’t for the critically important role that the clownish Alan Keyes’ stupendously incompetent Senate campaign against Obama played in the improbable launch of Obama’s political profile into the stratosphere. There seems to be widespread amnesia on FR about this important chapter in US political history, and willful blindness to its impact. Those who forget history are apt to repeat it in unfortunate ways . . .
And if Obama’s got this huge secret band of ultrapowerful and ultrawealthy supporters who put him into the White House, what happened to them after that? Where are they when he’s nominating frightfully unvetted people for cabinet positions, only to have to withdraw them after political opponents spend 5 minutes vetting them? Where are they when he’s pushing through bizarre schemes like the “cash-for-clunkers” program that will obviously delay and worsen the inevitable relapse into economic decline, pushing it closer to the time he needs to start his re-election campaign?
All Presidents have “handlers” (and teleprompters), but Obama’s current crop of handlers are not doing an impressive job. They certainly weren’t capable of orchestrating his amazingly fast rise through the political ranks.
Alan Keyes is not a clown. He actually says the truth.
His take on Obama is that he is a “abomination”. Which I
think is putting it mildly. If you think Obama has good
intentions then you haven’t been studying the issues. His
intention is to put this nation under marxist rule.
He voted for partial birth abortion and has disgraced this
nation repeatedly by ill treatment of our allies. The fact that he hides all of his background information just adds to his disgusting behavior.
Personally I never attributed it to anything of the sort (Huge Leftist machine), or maybe I did if you consider the media as part of the Democrat party.
The Leftist media totally abrogated their duty as watchdogs and through themselves 100% in Obama’s camp. They carried his water from day one and attacked anyone who dared criticize him.
Tell you what. had Obama been white, with the exact same record politically, he NEVER gets pastr NH, if he even gets that far.
And that’s a fact, Jack!!
It wasn’t just Alan Keyes either. It was how Obama disposed of the first republican opponent, totally illegal IMO.
The submarine would come in at its operating depth then launch several torpedos to the bottom where all the important structures are.
The sub would return to its tender somewhere in the Gulf.
Remember the North Koreans were busy sinking a South Korean Navy ship in roughly the same period of time.
No one really knows how much ordinance was dumped into the area of the wellhead on the bottom of the Gulf.
Could be Obama's regime knows that they can do nothing and have elected to try to blame BP for everything.
At the same time Obama is covering up for his friends in North Korea.
Their only realistic alternative was Hillary, and they'd had quite enough of her. Being black, in addition to being a crowd-pleaser and quite intelligent, made him the most likely candidate to be able to fend off Hillary. It was a long shot, but the leftist media wanted to be rid of Hillary almost as badly as Obama wanted to the The First Black President of the United States.
But without the huge leg up he'd gotten from Keyes just a couple of years earlier, Obama wouldn't have stood a chance. He'd have been way too much of a long short of the leftist media to agree to unite hehind him. They'd have divided themselves, and left Hillary in a strong position.
When I’ve got my tin-foil hat on, I sniff a possibility that the reason for the back-off on coverage by both the media and politicians (of both parties, it appears), is because there’s some well-informed concern that there might have been terrorism involved. If that’s what’s going on, I’d just as soon it’s kept quiet. It wouldn’t do a bit of good to splash any evidence suggesting that into the public domain, and it would cause massive disruption in the already very fragile financial markets.
