Obama campaigns against Bush - again By: Carol E. Lee May 22, 2010 07:02 AM EDT
President Barack Obama is trying to ride the wave of anti-incumbency by taking on an unpopular politician steeped in the partisan ways of Washington.
It doesnt matter that George W. Bush left office 16 months ago.
The White Houses mid-term election strategy is becoming clear pit the Democrats of 2010 against the Republicans circa 2006, 2008 and 2009, including Bush.
Its a lot to ask an angry, finicky electorate to sort out. And even if Obama can rightfully make the case that the economy took a turn for the worse under Bush's watch, he's already made it - in 2008 and repeatedly in 2009.
Its not clear that voters still want to hear it.
If youre the leader of a large corporation and youre in power for a year and a half and you start off a meeting with your shareholders by blaming your predecessor, that wouldnt go over very well, said Merle Black, a political science professor at Emory University. This is a very weak approach. ... And I cant imagine it having an impact on these very swing voters.
Some Democrats would like Obama to shift his argument.
The president needs to indict not simply Bush or even Republicans. He is a visionary thinker, and his rhetoric should reflect that, said Democratic strategist Paul Begala. I want President Obama to make a consistent, compelling indictment of conservative ideas.

How did America ever let this commie become president?
It may backfire because the annointed one is making GW Bush look better with each passing day.
Yeah. Visionary. That's it. Right.
visionary? apparently HIS vision is a destroyed backwards hellhole....and we are quickly becoming it.
White guilt.
riiiggghhhttt
Like closing down the space industry and the moon program - why build a space station on the moon from which rockets could be launched with near zero power far off into deep space and learn things we may well need to know - not to mention not leaving the moon to other countries to build a station that looks down our throats.
Nope, the "visionary" says, instead, we could go to an "asteroid."
The only thing he envisions is a Muslim controlled world - with himself as the head imam.
pit the Democrats of 2010 against the Republicans circa 2006, 2008 and 2009
Can’t let the voters remember the Democrats were in charge of Congress 2006,2008 and 2009.
Obama had a filibuster proof majority for a significant period until Brown was elected and HE wants to shift the blame?
Talk about lack of leadership.
Talk about a lack of class. The kind of class necessary to be president. Or dog catcher.
The Bush years have become known as "The good old days". Bringing up Bush is suicide for the left. People will be yearning for the Bush years to come back. If the Marxists want to make comparisons, Bush beats them hands down - no questions asked.
An unpopular politician? Is he for real. What is he? Dumb ass.
“”He is a visionary thinker, and his rhetoric should reflect that, said Democratic strategist Paul Begala.”
Visionary? Show me proof of that. Thinker? I am even less impressed. Show me what he did in college. Prove to me that everything he has done up to this point was essentially an honorary degree or award or “affirmative action”.
Tic, tic, tic.....
Looks like others choked on the “visionary thinker” part too! Paul Begala must have an unlimited supply of kneepads.
Of course Obama is going to blame Bush - Obama has never had to truly own a decision for his entire life. Until 53% of this country decided to immolate us, he had never run ANYTHING in his life. Zero. He’s never had to take ultimate responsibility and so his every instinct is to blame somebody else.
Taxpayers fund ACORN.
ACORN selectively targets weak districts andusing voter-fraudmakes them strong for a "takeover".
I don't need to address The Electorate's collective need to "feel good" about race relations.
A year and a half later, he still doesn't know he's the president??? He still thinks Bush is in charge? DUH!
***The only thing he envisions is a Muslim controlled world - with himself as the head imam. ***
Misery loves company. America has taken in millions and millions of people since 1776 and made it good for them. WE HAVE IT! THEY DON’T! So being miserable, THEY can’t stand the idea of US having it.
So, all they need is one Zero whom they can promote as their leader who will distribute everything we have to him and his friends who will live in strongholds surrounded by their armed slaves.
And THEN the slaves will finally wake up.
Well if you really want to know.
1. Put the worst possible candidate against him.
2. Get the MSM on your side.
3. Blame Bush and make sure Bush NEVER answers any criticism.
4. An economy going down the tubs. Let it be said that we would gladly take that economy back today.
5. Stupid people that believed his message, NEVER looking to see that he never EVER ran anything except his mouth. The idiots that voted for him not realizing that the job requires someone that has some common sense. . . . .
That's a start as to HOW we got this Bafoon. . . .
