Beware Rand Paul and Sarah Palin [Finally their fear shows it's real face]
The Progressive ^ | May 20, 2010 | Matthew Rothschild, Editor

Posted on 05/20/2010 3:08:13 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

I’m worried about Rand Paul, Sarah Palin, and the tea party movement.

Rand Paul was correct in his victory speech: His victory was a victory for that movement, and it’s not going away.

It’s also larger than a lot of progressives want to believe.

And those progressives who cheer the takeover of the Republican Party by the tea partiers, seeing in it a recipe for electoral victory for Democrats in 2012, may be making a tragic error.

Rand Paul wasn’t the only tea party candidate who won on Thursday. Sarah Palin was also victorious. She endorsed Rand Paul early, and shrewdly invested in the race.

After Paul’s victory, it’s more likely than ever that Sarah Palin will be the nominee in 2012. And then anything can happen. Including her winning the White House.

Especially after the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United, which will let corporate America pour billions into the election.

Rand Paul foreshadowed one ad that these corporate dollars are likely to buy: an ad that claims Obama is betraying America. “We now have,” Paul said, “a President who apologizes for America’s greatness.”

Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Mitt Romney, Liz Cheney, and Palin herself have uttered similar slurs against Obama.

This tag, more than health care, more than the deficit, may be what ultimately costs Obama.

So don’t take comfort in the craziness of Rand Paul, or the zaniness of Sarah Palin.

Watch out for them.

“Finally, a progressive with half a brain...

Sush, don’t give them a clue. They have nothing to
worry about from the TEA movement, a bunch of wacko
constitutionalist freaks....yeah that’s the ticket.
Why, the dems are the party of growth prosperity and
progress, happily moving Amerika forward down the
bridge to the 21st century utopia.

Good point. It just seems that they quieted down a bit.

Whenever you see Sarah Palin on TV you know one thing for sure - she will be beating Barack Obama like a rented mule.

2ndDivisionVet hands her a check for $2 million dollars.

For what?

Flying around and talking to folks? Isn't she already paid for that?

Me too, since Paul is a kook and Palin isn't running for anything.

Be that as it may be.....we were told less than a year ago by the MSM that Palin was a washed up ex-governor, this has been proved to be, incorrect. As for Rand Paul, well, I love the fact that the republicans just had it broken off in their rear ends. When the commies at the Progressive start worrying, life is good....;)

"The only option left for the commies is to scare the hell out of their supporters and attack the Tea Party people...physically....and it’s coming."

I almost look forward to that day. They have no idea what's in store for them. I almost feel sorry for them.

Since Rand Paul declared that his victory was a victory for the Tea Party... do the Tea Partiers also embrace him as one of their leaders, or at least an emblem?

Well, most of the Kentucky Tea Party already has. And did so for most of the campaign.

Does that mean that Rand Paul is a "leader" or an "emblem" of the Tea Party in your State? I don't know why he would be. From what I can tell, the Tea Party movement seems to be more about local involvement in local races. Rand Paul is a great representative of the Tea Party movement in Kentucky. But I imagine that there's different Tea Party movers-and-shakers your State.

I ask because this comes full circle from the argument over whether Ron Paul and the lie-bertarians founded the tea parties....

Did Elvis invent Rock & Roll? Bill Haley and Chuck Berry and Johnny Cash fans might beg to differ.

Ultimately, you've had a number of people (Ron Paul and Rick Santelli have been amongst the biggest names, but hardly the only ones) with some similar ideas doing some similar things around the same time.

But in Rand Paul's case, I don't care who "invented" the Tea Party idea (as if it was any one guy; even Ron Paul himself didn't come up with the idea for his first Tea Party Anniversary Money Bomb, rather his supporters did); I just want to see Rand Paul leading the Tea Party Republicans, Independents, Libertarians et al to victory over Democrat Jack Conway, "Kentucky's most liberal statewide candidate in recent memory" (WaPo -- yes, even the Washington Post considers Conway to be "the most liberal").

Would you rather that Jack Conway took the Kentucky Senate seat?

The GOP isn't exactly swimming in extra Senate seats at the moment. Support whomever you like in the Primaries; but once the GOP Nominee has been selected, it's time to support the nominee and work for a Republican Majority Senate.

You've been on FR long enough to know better, is the owner of this site a "lie-bertarian"? You know, the one that has rides around on Tea Party Express buses......
