This is the last satellite image. Update: New image added. Captured by NASA's Aqua satellite, the image shows only part of the oil surface, with the Sun shining over. I've exaggerated the image contrast so you can clearly see the extend of the damage:

Just tragic in so many ways!
It’s sickening how many liberals I’ve run into that are “outraged” by it, and are pushing their agenda. I just know they are happy about this in a twisted kind of way. They are as bad as the oil slick itself IMO.
Oh my. That aint good. Hope this gets capped soonest!
I’m afraid Rush has really hurt his credibility in all this. I know he was taken out of context to a large extent, and that nature will take care of it on its own in the long run, but in the meantime a lot of people are suffering, and the libs have his comments front and center.
Inasmuch as the US and Russia are INTENSE rivals over Oil & Gas Exploration, worldwide, I certainly don't think he would have any prejudices here, now would he.
I live on the coast and drive along the coast and those pictures lie.
Damn.....The area affected is much larger than I assumed.

It is really sad to see this. I don’t think we will know the full impact of this oil spill for years. We need the oil...this country needs the oil. I am for off shore oil drilling but after seeing “Black Wave” the Alaskan Valdez oil spill disaster I don’t know if we can trust oil companies to drill. Too much greed, too much corruption and too many cut corners. And if the government gets in on these projects such as digging for oil you’ll have another fox in the hen house..,along with any other politician. This spill is like a rerun of the Valdez oil spill all over again.
I have to say the same. Those pictures suggest that Navarre Beach and all of Santa Rosa Island is engulfed in oil, and it most certainly is not.
Show me the thousands of fish that have died.

The first heavy oil from a giant Gulf of Mexico spill sloshed ashore in fragile Louisiana marshlands on Wednesday and part of the mess entered a powerful current that could carry it to Florida and beyond.
The developments underscored the gravity of the situation as British energy giant BP Plc raced to capture more crude gushing from a ruptured well a mile beneath the surface. The spill is threatening an ecological and economic disaster along the U.S. Gulf Coast and beyond.
“The day that we have all been fearing is upon us today,” Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal said after a boat tour to the southernmost point of the Mississippi River estuary.
“This wasn’t tar balls. This wasn’t sheen. This is heavy oil in our wetlands,” he told a news conference. “It’s already here but we know more is coming.”
Officials had previously reported debris in the form of tar balls, or light surface “sheen” coming ashore in outlying parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
The marshes are the nurseries for shrimp, oysters, crabs and fish that make Louisiana the leading producer of commercial seafood in the continental United States and a top destination for recreational anglers. The United States has already imposed a large no-fishing zone in waters in the Gulf seen affected by the spill.

That shows the delta and the oil spill, the oil spill is the shiny area. Sad either way.
This spill is much larger than Valdez was and will have a greater impact on the area. It’s just crazy.
