A huge wealth gap has opened up between black and white people in the US over the past quarter of a century – a difference sufficient to put two children through university – because of racial discrimination and economic policies that favour the affluent.
A typical white family is now five times richer than its African-American counterpart of the same class, according to a report released today by Brandeis University in Massachusetts.
White families typically have assets worth $100,000 (£69,000), up from $22,000 in the mid-1980s. African-American families' assets stand at just $5,000, up from around $2,000.
A quarter of black families have no assets at all. The study monitored more than 2,000 families since 1984.

Not true. AA students average IQ is 85. West Virginia average IQ is 98.7. California average IQ is 95.5 - due to large percentage of recent Hispanic immigrants, legal and illegal. Zimbabwe average IQ is 66. If you break out income per adult worldwide, or go country by country, the single biggest factor is IQ, which accounts for 60-70% of all income differences. And if were to consider U.S. residents by country of origin, country of origin IQ again explains 60-70% of income variation.
Exception: first-generation Jamaicans make more than white Americans. However, second-generation Jamaicans are not statistically better off than any other AA group. Jamaica average IQ (not immigrants to U.S.) of 72.
Of course, Americans of east Asian ancestry (Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese) do much better than AA or whites on IQ, and second generation does much better on income. So there's a lot of regression to mean in the data, where mean refers to country of origin.

Well, I will modify my comment. Break out certain counties and my generalization is more nearly accurate. Basically the problem is owing to the brain drain to surrounding regions.

Exactly. One thing no one ever seemed to raise in the endless "reporting" about Katrina was, why in the world did these average citizens say time and time again that they were "unable" to evacuate the city ahead of the hurricane?
One sob story report I remember was about a man who, knowing the hurricane was coming, went from merchant to merchant in his neighborhood trying to get a $30 loan so he could fill up his gas tank and drive inland some. He was bemoaning that all the usual sources for these type of "advances" -- advances against what? against one's next welfare check -- were tapped out by the time he started looking for that $30 for gas money. And, golly, it was the end of the month, so EVERYONE was waiting for their checks and NO ONE had money.
Neither he nor the reporter had any clue that what they were talking about was an adult man of at least average intelligence who could have actually LOST HIS LIFE in a hurricane -- or caused a rescuer to LOSE HIS LIFE trying to save him -- for his failure to set aside $30 as an emergency fund to buy gas in the event he ever had to evacuate.
THIRTY DOLLARS. Even on welfare, a person could set aside a few bucks a month until he had $30 bucks under the mattress, just in case -- you know, since he lives in a city that is actually below sea level -- he needs to get out of town for any reason. He kept saying, all I needed was gas money, I could stay in my car up along the road, but I had no gas money! THIRTY DOLLARS or his life. What a doofus and how sad.
But I'd bet anything that this man had been born into the welfare life and that he was third or fourth generation born into the welfare life. There was no hint, even as he talked, that he should have thought of having a little money set aside. The whole mindset was living from welfare check to welfare check.
In his mind, he had no money, not even $30 in emergency gas money, because it was the end of the month and his welfare check had not yet arrived. He was dependent upon that check in every sense of the word. And he had no idea how to take care of himself, even to the point of possibly saving his life, apart from that check coming in in the nick of time.
Simple answer...Democrats. An enslaved population that depends on Government handouts generation after generation is a reliable vote. Encourage destructive societal norms like drug abuse and out of wedlock teen birth and you have all the reasons you need.

More white people “act white”, meaning they mostly have 2 parents, they more or less learn English and have a reasonable vocabulary, they generally graduate from High School after following the course work, and they work when people hire them to work. Asians follow this same plan with even more emphasis generally on education. They too excel.
It is a plan anyone of any race can follow, that is if they are not groomed from birth to be permanent “victims” and wards of the political class.
Lots of reasons, the #1 of which is: Ultra-high level of government subsidized out-of-wedlock births along with being raised by single mothers.

Do whites take their education seriously and generally possess a stronger work ethic?

You couldn’t be more wrong, there is FAR more racial discrimination in hiring, white males are the last to be considered for many jobs, especially government jobs, there is blatant discrimination against whites in university admisssions. Most absurdly we have a president who obviously would not be in office if he were a blue eyed blond but identical in all other respects.
And, what percentage of minorities always vote for property tax increases.
