Me too, but it seems others here believe the opposite. I was watching TV with my mom and she was flipping channels so it was hard to keep track of who said what. FWIW, Sestak is a nut IMO.

I guess that Burns wasn’t that good a candidate, though Bill Russell doesn’t seem to be all that great, either. Maybe Diana Irey could be recruited.

Well it was Burns and Russell in the primary for the full term and Burns won so it will be him again in November. That election is more important than this one.

Very disappointing result, damn. 1 possible factor, higher rat turnout with the contested Senate primary. Still it's hard not to take it as a bad sign. I really hope we take the Hawaii special, sick of losing these specials.

We can laugh at Specter though. The dems sure are inclusive of "moderates" like him eh.

In other news Mary Beth Buchanan (whom I gave as a lock to Key House Races.com whoopsie!) was crushed 2-1 by the less well known Keith Rothfus in the primary for CD 4. Rothfus outraised her and she had some baggage. I should have kept a closer eye on that one.

And GOP Congressman Todd Plats barley beat some guy named Mike Smeltzer who claimed Platts is "not fiscally conservative enough," . Safe GOP seat. This is clearly the year to run against incumbents in the primary.

During his concession speech at the Sheraton hotel in downtown Philadelphia — his face exhausted, his eyes glistening — Specter thanked President Obama for his support. “It has been a great privilege to serve the people of Pennsylvania,” he said. “It has been a great privilege to be in the United States Senate.” Then, with his wife Joan and son Shanin at his side, he walked out of the ballroom, down the escalator, and into a waiting car — taking no questions from the press.

Thank you for the posting. I feel no sadness and no pity for him. Fossil incumbents never retire gracefully and Snarlin was in it for himself. Good riddance.

Someone mentioned Specter will run as an independant?????? I can’t believe possible now, but he is a diehard so won’t be surprised either...he’s a fool if he does.

Let him try. Republicans won't vote for the traitor. Dems have already rejected him.

If he doesn't run as an independent, will he endorse Sestak? It was a bitter primary.

Of course, Specter only survived the primary to run in the general election last time because PA's then-junior senator, Republican Rick Santorum, pulled out all the stops to push him past Toomey. Specter showed his appreciation by later changing parties.

I don’t know PA law, but Arlen’s already lost to a Democrat after alienating the Republicans. Who is left to vote for him?

"Pat Toomey won by 81% in PA, didn’t he? He should crush Sestak in Nov."

-----

You have no idea how much I want to believe you. But I can't get past these numbers:

SESTAK - 551,895
SPHINCTER - 473,120
TOTAL DEMOCRAT VOTES CAST - 1,025,015

LUKSIK - 142,811
TOOMEY - 604,943
TOTAL REPUBLICAN VOTES CAST - 747,754

I find it hard to believe many of the Sphincter voters will be voting for Toomey. Looks like an uphill climb to me.

Sestak is on the horns of a dilemma there...was he lying about the job offer or is he now covering up a felony?

PA voters get to decide.

“Act like a lady” was Arlen Sphincter’s reply to Michele Bachmann during some radio interview where Arlen was getting his clock cleaned.
