Former First Lady Laura Bush has come out against the Arizona immigration law, pointing to the discrimination that her own Irish ancestors, named Welch, faced in their time.
In an interview with Fox News, Bush said the new law merely showed an upsurge in prejudice similar to what her Irish ancestors faced.

I lost some respect for Laura Bush over this one.
In “modern” America every illegal that jumps the border is basically handed a check worht 19,000 in benefits something none of our Ancestors ( for the most part) had handed to them.
I tend to believe that a wife is the biggest chief advisor and counsel most men have.
It is like that in my marriage. Where do I go for the most advice ? Where do I go when im on the fence about a very tough decision ? 7 or 8 out of 10 times, maybe more.. I will follow her advice.
President Bush may have had some lousy advisors and a miserable staff. But I now think Laura may have been the worst of them all. She is a part of the reason his presidency failed.
That will explain why Bush steadfastly refused to secure our borders, even after 9/11.
And it goes a long way to explain why Bush has hard core on pushing amnesty, despite the toll that took on his approval numbers, which sank(never to recover), after he started pushing amnesty.
Hey, here’s an idea: Maybe Laura can go join the Democratic Party while she's about it.
At my house, we knew she held these beliefs before the 2000 election. Why didn’t everyone else?

People should realize just how bad both Bushes were for conservatives.
Bush 1 - was not a conservative. He also sold this nation down the river with this “new world order,” nafta, Gatt, etc. He only became a pro-life candidate when he got on the ticket with Reagan. The CIA has proven pathetic. He was on the plane with Kissinger before Nixon went to China and began the process of raising them from being basically a 3rd world nation to an industrial superpower and soon to be military superpower. I don’t care to hear anymore about Prescott Bush, skull & bones, Yale cheerleading or anything else about this man.
W spent like a drunken whore. He was not fiscally conservative and he didn’t fight back against the liberals.
I have no use for ANY of the Bushes. They’ve already done enough damage.

I have been SO disappointed...no, make that appalled at Laura Bush's recent comments re: the AZ law, Elena Kagan, abortion, etc. She's definitely not the Laura Bush I thought she was... she's apparently morphed into Hillary.

Even Barbara Bush wasn’t against abortion. The bushes are far left of where folks realize. They’ve done more damage to conservatives than what Clinton ever did.
