I know and have interacted with many people who grew up in communist countries. Many of them were there for most of their lives. Among them there is no shortage of self-interested personal gain survival of the fittest attitude. I’m quite confident you would see the same if you went to any socialist country and witnessed life their personally.
No matter what political/economic system people live under, there will be inequality and divisions in how people live and what they have. Under capitalism these inequalities and divisions can be primarily based on your efforts, talents, and productivity. Under socialism, communism, or any other system I know of the inequalities are based on how good you are at being political, manipulative, dishonest, or how connected you are. Capitalism protects individuals and their self-determination better than ANY other system, and therefore it is the most humane of all systems.
I’m sick of journalism majors trying to tell the rest of the world how to live.

Do we know who any of the main sponsors of this show was? I’d like to send them an email “thanking” them for supporting such important programming.

A number of European countries do reasonably well economically with a much higher socialist component than we presently have.
Only because they are smaller and not as multi-cultural as we are. And, I believe, because they don't have to foot the bill for a military adequate to defend themselves. Unlike plants, they flourish in the shadow of the U.S. umbrella.

I haven't been to any communist countries, but I spent three years in Germany where socialism reigns. That was enough for me.
However, in retrospect, this country is really reminding me of those days in Germany.
The current occupant of the Oval Office is the "one" we were always warned about in the 50's and 60's; the one who would come along and slick-talk himself into power, and to take us toward communism - all socialism is, is "communist-lite".
The chia pets in our society have been brainwashed into believing that their "plight" is American democracy and that socialism/communism is their "way out".
Sometimes I think stupidity may be a virtue...all the chia pets do is party on OPM (other peoples' money) and make new chia pets to be raised wtih OPM.
Meanwhile, we sit around wringing our hands at the demise of freedom and democracy in America.
But in the end, the partying will be over, and so will America...so REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER.

You are so right about November, and I absolutely agree with your comment about ‘communism lite’. One of the big problems is that we've let the left define the terms of the debate. They control and effectively turn off debate with a variety of tactics. Raise concerns about socialism/communism and they call it ‘McCarthyism’. Speak about the unfairness of illegal aliens receiving taxpayer dollars and you are labeled as ‘anti-immigrant’, or ‘xenophobic’, or ‘bigoted’, or ‘heartless’, etc. The list goes on and on.
The effectiveness of these tactics cannot be underestimated. There are so many things that are accepted as ‘gospel’ by much of the public because they don't question the accuracy or integrity of what passes for ‘mainstream’ in this country at this point in history. I was talking to a somewhat liberal friend recently about the MSM. He totally buys into the ‘Fox news is biased’ argument and thinks that CNN is really balanced. Why, because that's what pop culture tells him to believe. Actually, he's conservative in many, many of his personal positions, but voted for Obama because he bought into the characterization of Obama as ‘mainstream’ by the media.
The only way to effectively fight this is to never concede or leave unchallenged any of the ridicule and propaganda of the left. The left needs to be effectively labeled as anti-intellectual and laughed at. Seriously. The ridicule of common sense positions has to stop, and this 'ridicule' has to be turned right back around at the left.

"Raise concerns about socialism/communism and they call it McCarthyism. Speak about the unfairness of illegal aliens receiving taxpayer dollars and you are labeled as anti-immigrant, or xenophobic, or bigoted, or heartless, etc. The list goes on and on."
We're going to have to adopt the, "Here's a quarter, call someone who gives a $#!+" attitude towards these people and their Jr. high school name calling tactics.
We do just like they do, don't acknowledge their insults, and just keep on doing, what we are doing. The problem comes when we "flinch" at their time-worn accusations of "racism", "homophobe", etc. The left calling us those names, does NOT make it the truth...in fact, liberals wouldn't know the truth if it bit them in the butt.
A famous liberal trait is "thin skin", so we have to have much thicker skin and stop playing "shrinking violet" everytime a blowhard like obama runs his mouth. It doesn't matter what he says - except maybe with Chia pets who voted for him, but they wouldn't vote for any conservatives anyway.

“Men are like steel, when they lose their temper, they become weak.”
Great quote! Where is that from? I absolutely agree with what you wrote. That’s exactly what I meant. Instead of ‘shrinking’ from their labels, dismiss them as the bogus tripe that they are. You are also so right about the thin skin.

I remembered the "men are like steel" quote from a small poster my grandfather had on the wall at his auto repair shop back in the 50's...it's stuck with me all these years because it rings so true. And my Dad was a tool and die maker so I was familiar with "tempering steel" and all that...I guess that's what made it memorable for me. On the other thought, obama advised his Chia pets to "get in their face"...well, those were good bully tactics...in high school. What I've learned is if you get right back in their face and don't back down, they will probably start thinking twice before using sissyboy obama's advice.
I've noticed that barry is mighty brave when surrounded with secret service and world class security, but if you think back to his encounter with "joe the plumber" during the campaign, he was rather meek and mild about it.
obama and his ilk are only brave when they have the upper hand, the advantage, the numbers. His fluster-bluster is short lived when the tables turn...his is a campaign of fear and intimidation tactics but we should NOT run in fear.
