Noam Chomsky denied entry to Israel

JERUSALEM (AP) -- An Israeli official says academic and polemicist Noam Chomsky, who is a fierce critic of Israel, has been denied entry to the country.
Interior Ministry spokeswoman Sabine Haddad said Chomsky was turned away for "various reasons" but declined to elaborate.

Not only is Noam Chomsky a despicable person, he is perhaps the most overrated intellectual of the late 20th and early 21st Century. If you are able to separate out the obnoxiousness of the guy and just focus on his major thesis, he is exposed for the buffoon he really is. But at the same time Chomsky is important because many intellectuals pay attention to what he says. In a way he's like another buffoon, Thomas Friedman of the NY Times. Now no way is Friedman as despicable as Chomsky but like him he's wrong 90% of the time. And people pay attention to these guys (and others).
