I would have never guessed, and it truly saddens me. Only someone without the knowledge of God or without a backbone could say and believe what I just read she said about gay marriage and being pro-choice. Just pitiful completely pitiful.

"And as the book is not being given away, she will profit from her deception."

I honestly don't think she was trying to deceive anyone. She is more like that type of woman who would rather have not been involved with politics at all but got roped into it because of who her husband was. If I remember correctly..she didn't even want to have anything to do with being involved with the Presidency at all and GW had to talk her into it.

I know tons of women like this. They float around like a butterfly and just enjoy life. Must be nice. I plan to do that one day when I retire. Well...probably not, I know too much already. Maybe I'll force myself to forget. LOL.

Because, even though I couldn't disagree more with Mrs.Bush on this ISSUE, she served this wonderful Country of ours with dignity and grace and...just like us, has EVERY right (until Barack HUSSEIN Obama takes free speech away from us) to say whatever she feels. It will effect her book sales and it was dumb, but it is her opinion, however wrong. SCOTUS appointments should be given on merit and to those who would uphold our Constitution, NOT on gender.

I have one last thing to say to you and others who share your thoughts....CAST THE FIRST STONE.

I wasn’t calling for censoring sanity island bray. I didn’t expect Kaslin to go ballistic...I enjoyed sanity island myself. I’m just completely apalled at Laura Bush’s stance...completely deceived. But that’s my fault for holding her in such high regard but for her, to now start spewing this poison, is just beyond comprehension.

Amen! I am tired of seeing good people ripped apart for the sin of holding an opinion that isn’t popular here.

Maybe. But if Lao Tzu really thought that was truth, he would not have written anything, since writing is the same as speaking. It’s just one of those sayings that really doesn’t make sense. If someone has a deep understanding of whatever truth is in question, he will be able to express it. One way or another. Another saying I prefer is “A fool may be thought wise as long as he remains silent, but once he opens his mouth, all doubt is put to rest”. Or words to that effect!

You're trying to get me to jump on the merry-go-round of Circular Reasoning.

You do realize there are individuals who still idolize people such as Elvis Presley, Stalin, Princess Di, O.J. Simpson and Michael Jackson? There is no getting through to the admirers even though truths have emerged that show their idols to be not-so-good role models at the least. They justify the adoration by telling themselves that "the good outweighs the bad" and actually may be slightly embarrassed that they were fooled.

If someone doesn't allow you to voice an opinion which differs from theirs and you must walk on eggshells around them when it comes to particular topics, it's probably time to find other friends who aren't so touchy and volatile.

Only partly. The fact of the matter is that the GOP brand was so badly tarnished in 2008 that no GOP candidate really had a chance against the mocha messiah.

The only saving grace for me was Sarah. Other than SC picks and Sarah, I saw no reason to vote for McCain.

Granted McCain would have been better than Obama, we still would be dealing a ton of garbage and it all would have fallen on the right. No tea parties, no sarah, no energized base, etc.

George Bush’s second term was a complete disaster on almost every level other than Alito. And we had to force him at that remember? He picked Harriet Meirs. Guess who probably gave him that brilliant idea?
