I have a solution for gay marriage. The federal government needs to get out of the marriage business all together. Married people do not deserve tax cuts for being married. Married people do not deserve tax cuts for having children. The federal government needs to quit social engineering. A married couple making my salary get to keep $4000 dollars more of their paycheck each year. A married couple with a kid gets to keep $1500 dollars more of their salary each year. I get screwed by having to pay $5500 more dollars each year because of “social engineering.”

Get the federal government out of marriage all together.

I SO AGREE AND HAVE SAID THIS FOR A LONG TIME!!!!

As a single person I am penalized all over the place for being ‘not married”...I can not bequeth my social security money I have been forced to pay for years! At work others can take “family leave”. there are also insurance benefits, etc ...I just don’t want to go on...It makes me so mad.

If “marriage” was out of the govt area, all this ‘gay marriage” would be SO OVER!

Yeesh.

If marriage has no reference to children, then it is not marriage at all. Tax policy subsidizes families with children because society needs children or it soon ceases to exist. We are headed down that road. There are a huge number of unmarried women who will never be part of a traditional family, and if they have children, a large portion will be unproductive. If the number of gay men increases, that further reduces the number of children. The end result is a “mule” society. Mules are often good workers, but they they don’t leave progeny to take their place when they get old and die.

The tax credits exist for married couples to promote stable families and marriages.

"Get the federal government out of marriage all together."

I've been saying this for years. Government has no business in the marriage business.

I’d like to get rid of all deductions and do a flat tax or a sales tax, and get rid of the IRS. Just about anything the Fed sticks it’s nose into, with a few exceptions, it does poorly.

I’m of the same mind...no government involvement in marriage. If you go back to the 1800’s period...you went to the local minister and he did a ceremony and then handed you a Bible with your marriage noted in it.

If the government wants some involvement...start a civil union deal...which allows not just a husband and wife or gay couple to form a union...but two cousins who want to buy a house, or two sisters who want a joint business operation, or a brother and sister who want to manage dad’s farm.

In the long run...this entire marriage business is going to be twisted up completely...unless we just get our priorities straight on this whole situation.

The government has an interest in protecting marriage as marriage is what is necessary to maintain the traditional family. The traditional family is the building block of our society. When the family crumbles, so does society.
