Amid Furor over State's New Immigration Law, Commissioner Defends Baseball's Record on Minority Hiring
(AP) Baseball commissioner Bud Selig is ignoring calls to move next year's All-Star game from Phoenix because of Arizona's new immigration law.
Asked about such demands at a news conference Thursday following an owners meeting, he responded with a defense of baseball's record on minority hiring.
"Apparently all the people around and in minority communities think we're doing OK. That's the issue, and that's the answer," he said. "I told the clubs today: 'Be proud of what we've done.' They are. We should. And that's our answer. We control our own fate, and we've done very well."

Good. There is no reason to move the game.
left is trying so hard to whip up their anti American base
I never dreamed Bud would take this stand.
God Bless Him. lets hope he doesn’t cave over time. He has a history of folding if someone pressures him too much.
Good - - a voice of reason speaks loudly.
I’m reminded of a t-shirt from the sixties: “Ban the ban.”
Accusations of racism and crude insults are all they (the “progressives”) have. They are completely vapid, rudderless and totally incompetent.
All Selig should have said is that the game is staying in Phoenix. No need to bring up the minority hiring matter. This whole issue isn’t about minority hiring anyway.
But I’m glad he took a stand. Hope he sticks with it.
Good deal. Who knows, this year’s all star game may be about baseball and not about famous players.

You are correct. I suspect Bud knows the left really doesn’t like baseball, it being American and all.

yep...let’s see if the game is actually played there in July. Lots of time to fold still.
well what they are doing is making some in this country..think they have the upper hand to do bad things to law abiding citizens. validating crime.
I am telling you I LOVE my MLB. If they cave I will cancel my MLB Directv. I am only one person. I will cancel it. I think he will cave. MLB is tax except. I am sure they do not want to lose that.
Selig must have seen the attendance from Florida Marlins games.....and see that Hispanics do not go to MLB games....why boycott for people who do not support your product anyway?
