actually motivate the white working class labor party people.

Who are LEFTIST in their views on economics and the role of the state. If you look at where Labour had its best turnout, it was in the northern English industrial belt, where the majority of voters are the old white, working class. No Conservative government would ever win these people.

Her Majesty’s grip is remarkably firm in that photograph. I think she is pleased!

Oh no. Another boob belt.

Actually that's a baby bump belt - she's 5 months pregnant; she has to wear it way up there or not at all. Michelle O doesn't have that excuse, of course.

Some of you are too exacting - criticizing Cameron before the lad has had so much as a full day? WTF - did you expect him to not form a compromise coalition government?

It's the Commonwealth of all Commonwealth countries, for chris'sakes they invented the welfare state before David was born. It isn't just going to magically disappear overnight.

You should want the new PM to succeed so he can greet Bobo's (Peace be upon The One-Term) replacement in 2013, with a strong handshake -- and no goddamn bowing!

YOU WANT THATCHER ELECT PALIN.

British conservatives are an odd lot because all of Europe and the UK are so left-wing and completely awash in Socialist media influence, but I can't believe if Cameron took his direction from Margaret Thatcher the country would rally behind him.

They still love their monarchy and their history no matter how hard the schools, universities and broadcast news outlets try to destroy them.

Mr. Cameron, Congratulations! Always remember what Margaret Thatcher said, "The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money."

Cameron didn't exactly lose many voters to his right. The fact is that the Left-Wing parties won a majority, even though Cameron apparently turned out the Conservative base (especially in the South) while winning back suburban constituencies.

The people got what they wanted - got rid of Brown/Labour, but continuation of many of the same policies. Of course, take Scotland out of the equation and you’re looking at an entirely different ball game. Sort of like the State of Michigan sans Detroit.

David and Samantha Cameron have a lovely family. Their son Ivan, left, had cerebral palsy and died last year. She is expecting another child in September.

Yep, if you add up all the conservative votes from last week, you get to 40% if you’re lucky. This is after 13 years of Labour Party rule and after one of the deepest recessions in history.

Perhaps if the Tories had a different leader they may have scraped over the finishing line with a majority, but claims that another Margaret Thatcher-type leader would have walked the election are just not credible. People tend to forget that she was a deeply polarizing figure, and still is to some extent, and there has been little evidence that a majority of Brits would welcome a return to Thatcherite policies.

Thanks to her, Britain is a very different place today than it was 30 years ago, but the political landscape is not the same as it was back then, which is why the Tories could not will a solid majority this time around even under the most favorable of circumstances.

I don’t envy Cameron’s job. After Thatcher made deep spending cuts in her first term in office she was polling way down in Bush ‘07/’08 territory, and she was somewhat fortunate that the Falklands crisis happened when it did. Assuming nothing like that happens this time around, Cameron is going to have a steer a very careful course in the next couple of years if he wants to be more than a one term PM. I suspect that’s why the Labour members scuppered a deal with the LibDems — they anticipate capitalizing on the unpopular spending cuts that will be necessary to balance the books to win the next election once the Conservatives and LibDems tire of each other, which they will eventually.
