Sen. Robert Bennett (R-Utah), who lost his bid for re-nomination on Saturday, has not ruled out running as a write-in candidate for the Senate this fall.
"I've made no decisions to make a decision," he said Tuesday when asked about his political future.
Bennett would only say he'd make a decision "later."
Such a decision would put his colleagues - who personally like Bennett but will only endorse a GOP candidate in the primary - in a tough position.
"It's a little like going to your own funeral while you're still alive," the 76-year-old, three term senator said of his colleagues who said they'd support the GOP nominee in Utah.

How are those NRSC enorsements working out for you, Cornyn, you dumb b*tch?
First Scozzafava, then Arlen, then Charlie Loafers, now Bennett. Maybe you should do a fundraiser for Fiorina now.
bttt ... will Cornyn read this?
This is beyond a pipe-dream. A write-in campaign will go nowhere and the eventual GOP nominee is the next US Senator from Utah. Period.
Unbelievable. Truly unbelievable.
I’m interested for the results of these upcoming primaries. If Charlie Tuna actually pulls off a win, it’ll be a coup by the Dems. If he fails miserably, no harm no foul. The problem is that while Dems are “retiring,” they seem to be betting the farm that a Dem or an “Independent” will take their place and keep them connected to the political underclass.
I’m sick of the politics. There’s massive corruption at every level of our government. Forget the revolution at the ballot box!
I thought it was too late to run as an indy??
Legacy seat alert!! Bennett’s FATHER HELD THIS SEAT FOR YEARS AND YEARS....ENOUGH!!!
They just can’t f***ing let go, can they?
He and Charlie Crist are perfect examples of feelings of entitlement. These people are not there to serve, but to gain power. Since he’s even thinking about running as an independent shows that it was the right decision not to elect him. Someone should remind him of the pledge he took 18 years ago to only serve two terms.
This guy was given a pink slip by his party he ought to accept it and move on to his lucrative retirement.
He will lose as will Charlie. These guys think they are entilted.
I thought the same thing.
I’m pretty sure Bennet would “lose” but if he peels enough votes, you get a demonrat.

If you vote for Bob Bennett, you are going to elect (the Democrat candidate).
Nope. It's why we need congressional term limits. Lifetime and essentially inheritable seats are totally antithetical to the principles our country was founded on. The Framers made few mistakes when writing the Constitution, but one was not realizing that term limits are perhaps the single most effecitve check on congressional power. Unfortunately, trying to get a constitutional amendment passed for congressional term limits would be extraordinarily difficult in our time. :(
>>Is the GOP EVER going to understand NOT to coddle liberal RINOs.
And where are all the party hacks waving the unity flag and telling the RINOs that they should take one for the team, hold their nose and vote conservative? Funny how party unity only gets trotted out in support of RINOS.
Unfortunately, the polls currently show Crist with a comfortable lead.

They remind me of the old high-school boyfriend who couldn’t take the hint.
Hey Charlie & Bobby, we’re ALL busy washing our hair.
This is so reminiscent of the “block Goldwater” movement by
“establishment” Republicans like Rockefeller and Scranton in the 1964 election, and election that consolidated LBJ’s power and entrenched the “Great Society” entitlements which are now the bane of America’s existence.
