Ok so I filled out my census form with the constitutionally required information (how many people live here) and sent it in. Still, I have had two different census workers show up here telling me that it is my duty to complete the form and that it is their duty to "help me" do that. Both incidents have been polite on either side however I realize that eventually the time will come when they will stop being polite.
Last night the census worker was asking for our names. I was sorely tempted to give them made up names but I understand falsifying that document might be a crime so I just smiled and repeated (to her consternation) that 3 people live here.
After I repeated the same line the third time in reponse to her pleadings, she got the point (must be a liberal) and left with the admonition that they will be back one more time.
I said, "One more time and then no more? Promise?"
Has anyone else had any issues with these people yet?
That is pretty much how it’s been going with me. I figure they will show up one more time, probably get pissy and still not get the info they want.
I might give them ages next time but I don’t want to encourage a fourth visit.
lol
thanks for posting
I answered that question because we live in a rural community with a Hispanic population tied to farming. Yeah, I know. I wanted the information out there so be maintain a correct balance between Whites, Black and Hispanic.
I made a big scene at my closing when I crossed off the race box that had been checked by the mortgage broker on my mortgage application. My lawyer said it’s no big deal; I said that the question is optional and that I will not be part of some social re-engineering scam. I want the checked box crossed off. Everyone rolled their eyes, but I didn’t care. I told them that my race has nothing to do my financial qualifications for obtaining this or any other loan.
We didn’t return the census form and we have no intention of talking to any census workers. With the statements of many RAT officeholders here and the “public service” campaign a few months ago it’s obvious that 500,000 non-existent residents of Massachusetts will be “counted” in the census. So my household not being counted will decrease that fraud by several.
I had one show up yesterday. No one in our borough of North Apollo PA had received the form as we all have PO boxes. We had a polite conversation on the front porch and I provided my name and that one person lived there. She wanted more information, including my phone number but I politely said that the government didn’t really need that info for the census and that would be all I would be sharing. We wished each other a good evening and that was that.
I was hounded relentlessly by phone last census (I thought we were unlisted but I suppose they have their ways) so much I had to screen the calls with the answering machine. I finally picked up the phone and requested to be placed on their "do not call" list, heheh. LOL, you can probably guess where that led.... said she was from the government, said they didn't count. Eventually she got around to threatening me with a fine. Idiot stopped calling after that. Thankfully I am nowhere near census creeps this time around.
I gave my age , race and that one male lived here. As far as date of birth, I just asked if they were going to send me a birthday card? Name- I put NOYB, so I’m waiting for them to either write or so up asking for Mr. NOYB.
I had one show up at my door one evening last week. A cheerful black woman. Very apologetic, I was ready to answer 1 person lives here when she interjected; we got yours, you’re fine. (odd because I only answered “1” and “human”).
No she wanted to ask if anyone lived next door. Yes I said, but that she’s out a lot. She wanted to know if I would be a proxy and answer for her, as she had visited three times already and that the rules prevented further visits (?).
I declined, and she thanked me and left.
I can’t blame the workers. In Zero’s world it’s probably the best job they can get right now.
The strategy of politely declining is the way to go.
I’ve got dual citizenship with florida.
My census worker is a nice guy and well-known in the community so i didn’t get snippy with him. he agreed with me that the race questions, do I own my own home etc. were ridiculous. I didn’t answer them. Just my name and age and how many people live here.
I thought instead of all those alternatives for your race, they should just ask ‘What color is your skin?’ and then provide a color chart you could match up your skin with. Like those tooth colors on a piece of clear plastic when you get your teeth whitened.
"Conservative"? Is that why three of your four representatives in DC are among the filthiest slimebags to have ever drawn breath (just like 11 of our 12)?
“and that the rules prevented further visits”
Well that is truly great news.
That’s great!
I avoided the census taker yesterday...happened to look out my window and there she was. She didn’t see me and left after a few minutes. I suspect she tried ringing the doorbell, but I disconnected the bell years ago.
Saw a neighbor yesterday who told me the same woman came to his door. She did ask about the house next door (mine). My neighbor said he didn’t know anything about the occupants of that home. I don’t usually like my neighbors, but this one is ok in my book.
Mine was addressed to ‘resident’. I chucked it in the garbage and left town for a week and a half. Haven’t heard anything since. I’m curious to see if they come around.
We don’t have a land line so they’d have to call my cell phone. The may have the number, may not, but I monitor the phone numbers when called.
If they call, I’ll tell them the same thing I’d tell them at the door, then hang up.
First I had heard of it. I was also amazed I didn’t get any grief for not filling out dob, phone, name or any of the 7 other questions I didn’t answer
Massholes.
We really need a fence on the border...
