This is a damn outrage, a disgusted David Brooks, the faux conservative columnist for the New York Times, declared on Sundays Meet the Press reacting to Republican Senator Bob Bennetts loss Saturday at Utahs Republican convention which chose two others to compete in a June primary for the seat. Brooks fretted he was punished for being a good conservative who was trying to get things done by bravely working with Democrats on health care and supporting TARP. Now, he repeated, he's losing his career over that. And it's just a damn outrage.
Sitting beside Brooks on NBCs roundtable, liberal Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne Jr,. a former New York Times correspondent, saw almost a non-violent coup because they denied the sitting Senator even a chance of getting on the primary ballot.
Over on Fox News Sunday, NPRs Juan Williams expressed exasperation: This is evidence of how the American political center is losing, on the right wing of the party a guy like Bob Bennett, who is a right-wing conservative, is being driven out because hes not sufficiently conservative?

You have to wonder if Rats even know what a real conservative is.
RE: “When is that asshat Brooks gonna stop pretending to be a conservative?”

Agree — and this Bennett ‘loss’ in Utah was excellent news! LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!!
A Brooks lament is a cause for celebration.
I pray that the TP can hold on through November.
Headline: David Brooks outraged that Utah Republicans pick the candidate of their choice.
David Brooks is not a conservative. He only plays one on TV.
I was at the library a few weeks ago—I left and a nice lady approached me outside with a petition, explaining she was running for the state legislature, she’s a mom, concerned with the way things were going, etc....She asked me to sign her petition and although I usually will sign just about any petition because I think people should vote on the issues, I couldn’t as she was a Democrat.
I told her I wouldn’t be supporting Democrats on any level this year or any year because I vehemently disagree how her Party is leading this country to ruin!
She looked shocked to say the least. I hope I wasn’t the only one to express such sentiments in my pretty conservative area. I was very nice about it, though!
Ping a Ling...
After promising to only serve two terms, sitting in the Senate seat of his father before him.
The House of Lords, it isn't; we fought one Revolution to free ourselves from that royalty/nobility nonsense; do we need to fight a Second Revolution to keep it that way?
I pray we don't, but also pray that if we do, it is before Parkinsons makes my aim too shaky to effectively participate.
Well, you have good points and you’re coming from “first hand” experience, but enough of the 40 yr. corrupt careers. I can see a couple of terms, eight years.
Eternal vigilance? Today’s voters? We have a form of “auto pilot” as it is at least we ought to try it, given today’s situation, it won’t be any worse.
When legislative bodies attempt to craft code that can't be undone by the executive, were all wasting our time. 6 weeks, every two years, sounds like a solution to stem the tide of legislative micromanagement.
My guess is that a low six figure salary, biennially, and a modest per diem would cool the jets of legislators and lobbyists alike.
You are entirely correctomoondo!!!
Politics is not supposed to be a career. Period. Career politicians are a cancer on the US, and every other country in the world. They are parasites on the public dole. It’s supposed to be public service, not a way to make a living and get lots of perks.
Paging Dr. Kevorkian..... one RINO sissymary jackass needs assistance-hopefully it will start a trend come November.
