An antigay psychologist's recent trip to Europe with a gay male escort from Miami has captivated readers and viewers around the world. Salacious stories have been published from South Florida to New Zealand, and it has been the butt of jokes by Jay Leno, Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart.
And on Friday, the young escort at the center of the scandal spoke with CNN correspondent Randi Kaye for Anderson Cooper's prime-time show.
Jo-vanni Roman a k a Lucien -- told Kaye that psychologist George A. Rekers, an officer of the conservative National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) and a retired University of South Carolina professor, paid him $75 a day plus expenses to travel with him for two weeks in April to London and Madrid.
Included for the money: Roman, 20, would give nude ``sexual'' massages to Rekers, 61, every day during their trip, the younger man told Kaye.
Gay activists and bloggers have pounced on the story: Rekers, a well-known antigay activist, recently was paid more than $120,000 by Florida to testify in defense of the state's gay-adoption ban
Well...he did get paid some "stimulus" money...
If they are going to look at this nonsense then why not the National Enquirer story on Obama’s girlfriend. If we are in the gutter with this crap then open it all up.
Hypocrites.
But the SoCons will try, of course...further alienating mainstream conservatives and those important swing-voters, both of whom could help achieve their goals.
They'll once again take us all down another notch, I fear.
Agreed about Satan. But the fundamental facts of this story have been confirmed and are beyond dispute: Rekers DID hire a homosexual prostitute from a homosexual escort service. There was no mistake by Rekers about who he was hiring. I believe he was out of his mind when he did this, as it would be impossible to be inconspicuous about this. And, these "out of your mind" moments are, I believe, strongly inspired by Satan.
The greatest harm this does is attribute hypocrisy to a seemingly staunch opponent of the normalization of sexual perversion, and the homo-activists and liberals are keenly aware of the power of the accusation of hypocrisy. But if you listen to their core accusations, you will find that the absolute hypocrisy is in them, and a wealth of truth will be reveal in their attacks.
Does anyone ever wonder why the most hateful, denigrating insult a homo-activist can think to hurl against their opponent is accusing the opponent of being "gay?" After they try with all their might to tell us how great and normal "gayness" is, they use this as their ultimate smear against another? Doesn't this tell us that deep inside, homosexuals know how absolutely morally depraved this behavior/impulse really is?
Well I never knew his name before now but I guess we now know why he kept a low profile and let Dobson be the “face” for the organization.
Sorry folks but anyone trying to find a way to believe this is innocent just needs to accept the truth. The guy is gay and bought sex from a male prostitute. If he’d wanted to just council the kid he wouldn’t have gone through that website nor bought his services during his vacation. Airports have people that can attend to your luggage. So do cabs. Hotels. He didn’t need to bring a young male with him knowing how it would look if caught if he only sought to council him.
I’d be more upset but I’ve had issues with FOTF for the last few years. Maybe this scandel will finally force them to clean house.
The Miami New Times is having a total field day with this news.

George Rekers Has Company: The Top Ten Outed Right-Wing Homophobes
Unless you’ve spent the last 48 hours holed up in a French B&B humping the homosexuality right out of your rent-a-boy, you’ve probably heard about Miami New Times’ exposé of gay-bashing evangelist George Alan Rekers’ European tryst with a male prostitute.
Is there any homophobe out there that’s not secretly had sex with men? Buju Banton, put your hand down. Catching counts.
Let’s induct the top ten members into the Hall of Hypocritical Homophobic Homosexuals:
10. Richard Curtis, Republican member of the Washington state House of Representatives
How anti-gay is he? He voted against domestic partnerships for same-sex couples and voted against a bill prohibiting sexual orientation discrimination in a workplace.
How gay is he? He had sex with a gay male porn star — oh, and Curtis wore lingerie under his clothing.
Totally gay quote: “I have not had sex with a guy.”
9. Bob Allen, Republican member of Florida House of Representatives
How anti-gay is he? Supported a ban on same-sex couples adopting children.
How gay is he? Offered twenty bucks to a male undercover cop in exchange for letting him perform fellatio on him.
Totally gay quote: “This was a pretty stocky black guy, and there was nothing but other black guys around in the park,” Allen, on the cop who he thought was trying to rob him. See, he offered to blow the guy because he feared he “was about to be a statistic”.
8. Glenn Murphy, Jr., Chairman, Young Republican National Federation
How anti-gay is he? Dude, he’s a Young Republican.
How gay is he? Got another Young Republican drunk and performed fellatio on him while he was asleep.
Totally gay quote: “We are the children of Reagan.”
7. Roy Ashburn, Republican California state senator
How anti-gay is he? He voted against a day honoring slain gay rights activist Harvey Milk, voted against expanding anti-discrimination laws, and voted against gay marriage.
How gay is he? After being caught drunk driving with a male lover in the car, he publicly came out of the closet.
Totally gay quote: “I felt my duty is to represent my constituents, not my own point of view, not my own internal conflict.”
6. Edward L. Schrock, Virginia Congressman
How anti-gay is he? He supported asking military recruits about their sexual orientation in order to bar gay soldiers.
How gay is he? Caught on tape soliciting sex from a male prostitute.
Totally gay quote: “I have come to the realization that these allegations will not allow my campaign to focus on the real issues facing our nation and region.”
5. David Dreier, Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives in California
How anti-gay is he? Voted against gay marriage, gay adoption, and inclusion of sexual orientation in hate crime legislation.
How gay is he? Our sister paper in Los Angeles reported that he was getting it on with his chief of staff and paying him a very handsome salary in return.
Totally gay quote: None. Dreier refuses to address allegations about the affair and runs away when people ask him about his sexual orientation.
4. Larry Craig, U.S. Senator from Idaho
How anti-gay is he? Twice voted to constitutionally ban same-sex marriage. Twice voted against sexual orientation being included in hate crime legislation. Strangely, three times voted to have a margarita machine installed in the bathroom of the Minnesota airport.
How gay is he? He solicited sex from an undercover cop in said airport bathroom.
Totally gay quote: “Let me be clear: I am not gay and never have been.”
3. Mark Foley, U.S. Representative from Florida
How anti-gay is he? Foley had a moderate voting record. But before we give him a pass, let’s remember that he is a) a Republican and b) Chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children. Kinda funny— read: sad— considering...
How gay (not to mention molester-y) is he? For years, he sent sexual text messages to teenage Congressional pages.
Totally gay (not to mention molester-y) quote: “How my favorite young stud doing?:”
2. . Ted Haggard, evangelist
How anti-gay is he? “Homosexual activity, like adulterous relationships, is clearly condemned in the Scriptures.”
How gay is he? Hired male prostitutes. Also, used crystal meth.
Totally gay quote: “I think of myself as a heterosexual but with issues.”
1. George Alan Rekers, evangelist and junk scientist
How anti-gay is he? Founder of the right-wing Family Research Council and board member of the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality, which teaches that homosexuality can be cured.
How gay is he? You better just read the story.
Totally gay quote: “I had surgery and I can’t lift luggage. That’s why I hired him.”
If it’s reported in the MSM, it’s questionable.
Homosexuals are self-loathing too. Their history of promiscuous anonymous relationships in washrooms and drug addiction are symptoms of their displeasure.
Ever read about the transexuals who regret their surgery?
I never understood why folks from a religious tradition that is (rightly, from their theological point of view) skeptical of psychotherapy seem to think it is the bee's knees when it comes to homosexuality.
Mock the RCC all you want, but it is better to have a "celibate" homosexual who relapses (with another adult) than a "married ex-gay" who destroys an entire family in the process of pursuing his orientation.
