Bennett Ousted at Utah G.O.P. Convention (TEA PARTY DEFEATS RINO SENATOR)
The New York Times ^ | May 8, 2010 | Kirk Johnson

Senator Robert F. Bennett, an 18-year veteran Republican who had been seeking a fourth term this fall, was stripped of his party’s nomination on Saturday at the state convention, becoming one of the first Congressional victims of the surging ferment of discontent from the Tea Party-infused Republican right.

Mr. Bennett, 76, was outmatched in delegate votes by two relative newcomers despite an enthusiastic endorsement and convention speech from Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor and local Utah hero, and a political pedigree of deep Mormon roots and public service.

I think Bennett would have held on if he was 20 years younger. This is the election for new blood.

Here’s some good news- the Senate has one less supporter of amnesty for illegal aliens.

He could go “gangster” on us and vote for amnesty before his term is up in November though, now that he has nothing to lose. You can never trust a RINO.

Don’t you love these moderates? Party, prinicples - hell. Its all about THEM.

Exactly. We're supposed to hold our noses and support them, but when they lose it's our fault and they go 3rd party and play the spoiler.

You Betcha! The Phantom is/was the Ultimate, Premiere Fighter and most definitely was the pride of St. Louis. It was a lean/mean fighting machine! Used to watch the 'weekend warriors' at Lambert Field and there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that compares to the afterburner kicking in On the F4 Phantom. (talk about jazzed! lol)

You must be so proud of your son and my hat is off to you. Raising a fine young person in this day is equivalent to walking through land mines. Obviously you are a dedicated and watchful parent. May God Bless you and your family! (and thanks for sharing...I'm uplifted even though it's 'internet' chat. (gives all of us hope-thank you!)

True enough.

I also sense a liberal amount of pure spite toward those voters who merely want their senators (and house members) to represent them honestly.

Conservatives need to get it thru their thick skulls that, outside of their vote every 2, 4 or 6 years, moderates have no use at all for them.

His only option is a write-in campaign...which will not happen.

He's gone.

Mitt is definitely Rubio’s problem down here. Although that little slip of the tongue condemning Arizona was pretty bad as well. Rubio just does not understand that one Mitt equals no panhandle votes. Mitt is absolutely no use in any southern state and candidates down here should understand that.
