Ron Paul: There’s Anger… There’s Going To Be Riots In The Streets

By Rocky Vega

05/07/10 Stockholm, Sweden – Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) was on Fox News yesterday, discussing Greece and describing how the financial crisis has become a currency crisis… which is much worse. He sees an attack on the dollar in terms of gold, and has no doubt that the currency crisis is a worldwide problem.

Referring to whether or not Greece-like riots could take place in the US he says:

“Absolutely, there’s going to be anger. There’s going to be riots in the streets as well. But this is all a consequence of the fact of why and how government could spend like this. It’s because they don’t have sound money.

“When we run up deficits, we tax, but never enough. We can’t tax, it would ruin the economy. Then we borrow, and we get away with that for a long time. But, we rely on printing presses from the Federal Reserve to create money and that’s where the problem is [...] we can’t have fake money, this is counterfeit.”

I am past anger and just watching as more people wake up. I predict the Republicans will not take the House or Senate and will blow it as usual. The real test will be in 2012. Republicans are happy in the minority getting their share of the Loot without being responsible. I think they will sell us down the socialist river.

I could make a fortune in that fake money if I always knew what the next five minutes would bring.

“Do you want the Zimbabwe or Iraq paper first?”

Or Argentina...Excellent Point. People are going to be shooting themselves for not buying stuff now...while the dollar APPEARS to have value.

Only an IDIOT (or someone who’s broke and can’t get credit) would not be stocking up on EVERYTHING...now!! Personally, I’m out of things to buy...I can ride out about 5 years (other than food). It’s going to be a WILD ride down.

I have real Silver. But don’t tell. It is fiat currency. It still works for trade but you may notice it buys less and less.

Well, I’d ask for some gold or silver in return, but wouldn’t get much, I suppose. This is a true story to illustrate the point: I went over to the coin dealer across from work back in the winter to see what he had. We were casually chatting and he said he couldn’t keep gold coins in stock, they sold so fast. I mentioned that I had a roll of pre-1964 silver quarters and almost before I could finish he said “I’ll give you a hundred bucks for it.”

So I could buy $100 dollars of fiat money with $10 of real money. I looked on eBay and found I could do even better. That’s what he means by fake money. It may not be absolutely worthless, but it seems to be headed that way.

We may be constrained into using the unsound ,fake money by government force;that still doesn't make it morally or economically sound, nor does it mean we disregard what value the paper money still has.Don't wait up by your mailbox.

In yet another "not-quite-end-of-the-world" novel by Stirling?, the central characters write checks and use all their paper money buying basic hand tools, seeds, etc. from a store as they are among the first to anticipate and flee the breakdown of urban life following the sudden complete and apparently permanent failure of all existing electrical devices.Of course the checks are worthless because the banks can't process any accounts so the store owner simply gets nothing in return for what becomes very valuable merchandise.

I'll keep my fiat money because it is the only kind the government issues.

You should have been here in 1999 when so many Y2K nuts were "stocking up" for the collapse of civilization brought on by Y2K. I wonder how many of them are still choking down dehydrated beans.

RP nails it again.

Did he nail it about 9-11?

Did he nail it about needing no military?

He nailed it, alright. Nailed the "kook" badge right to his anemic chest.

"Don't wait up by your mailbox."

I wasn't going to. My point was already made that while it's easy to claim the dollar is fake and has no value, it is another thing to part with it.

But note Dr. Paul did not say the dollar has limited value. He did not parse his words in the least. He said it was "fake money, this is counterfeit". Counterfeit money has no value and Ron Paul has a problem with hyperbole.

Riots in the streets are nothing new here. They have been, and will be, by anarchists and leftists.

You're probably right and that's what the big-government political elites are counting on. They know that conservatives are too mild-mannered to respond forcefully to their expropriation. They may drive a Tea Party Express bus around and muster a few thousand peaceful protesters, but they can safely be ignored as the Feds usurp core individual liberties, nationalize the "commanding heights" of industry and commerce, confiscate 401(k) and retirement accounts, introduce a VAT, increase income taxes, and abrogate middle-class welfare programs like Social Security and Medicare. They know we'll still go to work tomorrow and pay our taxes.

He did not say 911 was an inside job. I never heard him say anything against the military. In fact he has more support in the military than anyone else. He does nail it on the Constitution though and the Federal Reserve.

Yes, but Celente is a control freak lefty in his solutions and Ron Paul is not.

90% of people will never wake up. They don’t about anything except for the next 5 minutes.

All they follow or "know" is Dancing with the Stars or American Idol.

The majority of the American people have a mental age of about 14 years old.

Isn't the topic Ron Paul being a kook and a quisling?

And thanks for calling me a name you usually call your kids.

Ron’s discussing economic policy. If you want to bloviate about his debunked associations with 9/11 Truthers and anti-war kooks, go to a different thread.

Everyone here seems to be counting on inflation. Actually, DEFLATION is the more serious concern. House prices, commodities, even metals will take a big fall as our economy begins to fail.
