The police chiefs of Minneapolis and St. Paul say a proposed state immigration bill modeled after Arizona's law would cause mistrust and have a "chilling effect" in immigrant communities. In a news release issued today, Minneapolis Police Chief Tim Dolan, outgoing St. Paul Police Chief John Harrington and incoming St. Paul chief Tom Smith say that local law enforcement officers should not have to be the primary enforcers of federal immigration laws. The chiefs say such a law would instill a culture of fear in immigrant communities and prevent crime victims and those with information about crimes from coming forward.

They are just afraid that they will have to work harder.
Another important question: if these wimps are elected, do you demand proof of citizenship in order to vote in MN?
Lastly, if they are "hired guns" I'd say it's time to cut the budget beginning with law enforce and start with at the top. I'll just bet that there are some Sergeants that would like a pay increase.

The unions speaking through their police chiefs. The unions are counting on amnesty to get their numbers and union dues up.
If the unions that represent police officers plan to swell their ranks with illegal aliens, we are in big, big trouble indeed

St. Paul, Minneapolis police chiefs oppose proposed immigration law
“
Sad, but not suprising.
When a family member (from below the Mason-Dixon Line) got his
graduate degree at the St. Paul campus of the U. Minnesota...
he said that he was suprised at how conservative a lot of folks
in St. Paul were.
Looks like the police chief is out of tune with his constituency.
The anti-American liberal ass like this police chief is sure evident that the communists are in full spin. It’s not up to him, the nitwit, but to enforce the law as those that are his bosses tell him to do by the legislative law if it comes to pass. Just shut up, fool. Damn rotten civil employees anyway.
FYI- both cities are run by metrocrats and are “sanctuary” cities...”
New Federal Law requiring fingerprints be sent to Feds on anyone arrested breaks up the ‘sanctuary city’ status. San Francisco is finding that out. Effective mid-summer, I think.
Minneapolis/ St Paul has so many Somali’s there that I think the police are terrified of asking any of them the time of day.
Used to be a very pretty place. I would not go there ever again.
Aren’t bank robbery and kidnapping federal crimes?
Last winter there was a big immigration raid in Minneapolis and some 1200 illegal alien janitors were rounded up.
Today, most of them are back to work and wearing purple tee shirts.
They don't mind asking for a driver's license, insurance, title, etc. What's one more piece of paper?
They're "not supposed to be enforcing federal laws"? Well, I'm not "supposed to" be supporting illegal aliens and the propagation of their family size.
These two loser police chiefs should both be fired and jailed for not doing their jobs. They’re garbage.
I’m sure they are all for grabbing the guns of white people.
I’ve heard that this area of the country has a big problem with illegal Somali’s. Is this true?
Parts of MPLS and Rochester.
How many here illegally ? anyone’s guess.
I’m still crying...
Sharia Sheriff?
The poor chiefs might have to quit their pseudo-political posturing and get busy with their jobs. No wonder they’re against it!
Austin’s police chief Art Acevedo also opposes that AZ law. He called in to the PM talk ahow the other day and said “checking immigrant status overloads the APD and it was ICE’s / INS’ job” to do that.
Maybe they wouldn’t need these tips; if they solved the immigration problem.
These police chiefs are giving me further proof that Minnesota law enforcement is worthless. My several encounters with law enforcement fail to give confidence. One was when I called in a domestic violence event, which involved a break and entry, drunk and disorderly, assualt and battery, destruction of property and criminal trespass at a neighbors place. Police refused to make an arrest, instead asked the woman to ggive the bum some money for a cab ride home (he should have gotten a ride to the county lockup). Another case was a man unconcious on a sidewalk, with temperatures plummetting. VA Hospital Police were on the scene long before Minneapolis arrived, to the VA cops’ credit. Both cases, the local cops had the “why you take me away from my donut?” I get the impression of a highly unprofessional attitude. A major contrast to Texas or even New Jersey.
